Was there any aspect of the plot left out of the trailer? One to go see for the SFX alone I suppose.

I think that is the trend for most trailers at the moment, particularly those that the execs are worried about.

Just finished watching this, a very good origin story film and the 2nd half should be excellent on blu ray for visual and audio.

I prefer my Science Fiction to be 'scientific' not based on pure fantasy. Although I havn't seen this movie there seems to be a huge jump from a single ape being 'given' Intelligence to thosands of apes together instantly. (maybe I've missed something?)

I prefer that type of Science Fiction as well but their is certainly room for both and I still very much enjoy the other non Science based movies.

What you ask is explained and shown in the movie. It was a very solid big budget 'summer' movie, contains a lot of nice small moments and isn't 2hrs of non-stop braindead action. Caesar is probably the best character of the summer movies this year, for your main character to not speak is a fantastic choice. WETA and Andy Serkis have done it again.

Yep, I reckon they did a great job at explaining how Man was wiped out before the return of the Mars mission

Saw it the other day when I was in Sydney and needed to kill an afternoon until beer o'clock. A few of the shots showed definite "blue screen" edge effects around the moving apes, so not as well integrated as, say, Avatar by any means - and I think these scenes will stand out like the dog's balls on Blu-ray. Also plot-wise a lot of the story hinged on the guy's relationship with the chick who is supposed to be a primate expert but is clearly there merely to add chick appeal and eye candy, and contributes nothing to the plot, a bit like the blonde girl in "G Force" the guinea pig movie, know what I mean

On topic, I won't be buying it and with the demise of Bigpond disc rental won't be watching it again until it comes to Foxtel HD. So there, myaaahhh  B)

Not sure what movie you were watching but I just watched it last night and the chick was hardly even in it lol....She did have a small part in it but no where near the other movies where they ruin the movie with a love story.

This movie was complete surprise to me....I thought it was gonna be absolute **** just by looking at the trailers But after watching it I thought it was much better than Green Lantern, Captain America and Transformers 3. It's a movie you go and watch with your brain turned off....go in like that and just enjoy it for what it is. I remained entertained throughout the whole movie. Loved how Caesar becomes the leader of all the apes....it was pretty bad ass.

They needed to edit the trailer as it made no sense in the trailer...with the one ape being given intelligence to hundreds of them lol....it made no sense at all. I agree.

Has anyone who owns a Blu Ray copy of this movie had trouble playing it?

Mine loads up ok, takes a little while and plays fine for 30 mins or so then the pic starts to breakup and stutter until it just stops, like it is on pause (can still see pic and audio keeps playing)
none of the controls effect it and the only way to get it playing again is to eject the disc and resume playback.
Fist time i played the disc it bombed out at the 30 min, 60 min, and 90 min mark (exactly 30min intervals)
Have played the disc 2 more times and on each occasion it does the same thing but at different time points of the movie.

Could it be a faulty disc or would it be the blu ray player.
Have never had this happen on any other movie ever.

I had no problems with the blu ray so i'd say faulty disc.

I have it and it played just fine on the Oppo 93.  Check you have the latest firmware on you player and also did you inspect the underside of the disc for marks or scratches?

Yes i did check the disc and gave it a clean.
I have a high end Marantz blu ray player and it is unable to have the firmware updated. It is locked out and only the distributor (Qualifi) can access it and update the firmware. So not sure if it is up to date or not. Might have to take a trip to the big smoke and get them to do it.
