Don't forget 'Bass I Love you' as well :)   At reference levels these tracks move some serious air.   Opus Dei and Bass I love you have strong bass down to 7Hz if I remember correctly.  Go easy on the volume at first.  Some subs could really chuck a wobbly with this stuff.

P.S.  Why don't threads in the review section come up in the 'View New Posts' section ?

Ok so i set my amps volume to -10db set the submersive dial to -10db and then went into my amps settings made my speakers small so the submersive handles all the lfe and then set the muti sub out to 10+db like macca suggested.

Here is my mini review smile.gif

So i sat down on the couch put my feet up and put flight of the phoenix on, skipped to the famous plane crash scene and what happened next was a life changing experience.

I started to get tingles in the palms of my hands followed by the hairs on my arm standing on end. Then my palms started to sweat it was so intense. The windows were shaking my hifi cabinet was shaking, i was worried my new tv was going to fall off the cabinet, but i couldn't move i couldn't get up. I was so immersed in the movie and in the sound i just didnt want it to end. My chest started to tighten up, my heart was beating faster it felt like i was in the plane and it was about to blow up! I tryed to reach for the remote to turn it down but i couldnt take my eyes off the movie, i could feel my inner ear drums vibrating i started to grasp the pillows to try and hold on as the plane went down! And then it was over, the plane had crashed and i hit stop on the remote. I just sat there for a minute stunned with the biggest smile on my face! smile.gif

This is by far the best money i have spent on HT gear to date biggrin.gif Its so hard to describe but the bass is so intense and so powerful yet so clear it doesn't distract you from the movie in anyway it just makes you so immersed in the film. The rest of my speakers are low end wharefdale LCR and surrounds, its amazing how good they sound now that my sub handles all the bass. It has really given my speakers new life! I would highly recommend buying a submersive and trying it out with your current speakers you would be amazed at the difference it makes. I could only dream of having a full seaton setup i cant imagine how good it would sound, i would probably shed a tear haha.

For you guys that purchased 2 submersives, you are truly insane biggrin.gif I can't see how you can improve on perfection but this sub has done it for me i don't think ill even bother upgrading the amp at this stage thats how impressed i am. My room is 4m x 6m long open plan, hardly what you call ideal and it still sounds incredible. I can't wait to build my house with a dedicated room with treatments only then would i consider a second submersive biggrin.gif

Just wanted to thank Blade for having the balls to take the plunge and buying all this gear and posting his review, that is 100% what sold it to me. I want to thank yorac, killem and everyone else involved in the group buy. And last but not least mark seaton for producing such insane gear! keep it coming mate, keep the prices fair and in a few years you will have the market wink.gif From blades review alone you have sold to 30 - 40 people in australia we will be showing off to everyone we know haha so im sure u will sell quite a bit more down under.

Hope you all enjoyed my review not the most technical but i think i got the point across haha.

Great review Sero,

We just watched "Invictus"  which is about a Rugby game and what Nelson Mandela did for SA in 1995.  Some of the slow motion game scenes were brought alive by the SubM.  I still have only one connected it does an incredible job.  Without the SubM those particular scenes would have passed without notice.  The SubM made us all feel like we were in the scrum on the field.  Again not a technical review but for me worth every cent and worth the wait.  I agree with Sero, good on Blade for taking the plunge and the risk to try an unknown product.  Good on Mark for making the beasts.  And of course thanks to the boys in made the GB happen.  You know who you are.

cheers

I am so pleased to hear reviews slowly filtering through and that you're all happy with the Seaton Product. I sincerely appreciate the thanks for the small part I played and it's a reminder that word of mouth can be a very powerful advertising tool.

I'm sure at some stage Mark Seaton himself prior to bringing out these speakers often wondered at the reception they'd receive given the other well-established products out there.

From Concept, Design, Build through to the Consumer it reminds one of the old adage "You can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs"

Cheers

Blade

I think we may need to start a Submersive Movie review thread  :D It certainly adds an extra dimension to movies and I am sure everyone is looking for great material.

I have watched a few movies now, unfortunately I haven't been able to have any up loud as I haven't had the house to myself. One comment I can make is we watched Sherlock Holmes last night, and even at lower volumes the Submersive was still proving to be a great performer. I have never realised that guy ritchie has put in bass sweeps to add atmosphere in various scenes which I never noticed with my old sub  B) , also the fight around the boat was insane, I would love to have been watching at closer to reference. One other great moment that the Submersive added to was when Watson kicks in the door, both my wife and I jumped and it made my heart skip a beat.. never had that impact on me when I have previously watched the movie

Ok, here is my review and a subjective one based on a few hours all up testing...

But first thanks to the guys for organizing the GB and shipment.

Firstly I ran my Whise with Velodyne with Die hard 4.0 scene 33 (plane fires on truck) as reference point. The hooked up one SM. Hmm very similar. Its puncy like the Velodyne but maybe not as deep as the Whise.
Ok so vol up at see what happens. Haa, less breakup on extreme LF. Cool. The Whise maybe a bit deeper but it cant output the same SPL.
Now the test DVD 0.1 track. OMG, now I get even more door vibration into the DVD library room than before. As far as a lot of LOUD deep bass goes this is nothing new for me but overall this speaker is punching somewhat harder than the other 2 combined. Neat, now I will connect the OTHER SM up as well!

OK NOW WE ARE TALKING!
With both running we are really moving some serious air. But wait, whats going on, I hear a different door shaking. Not the one in the HT but one down the passage way!
Uh oh. I need check the pet rabbit down the end of the house to see if he is ok or in panic mode. Seems ok for now *wipes own brow*.
Next I go and adjust the input gain and wind it down to -10dB so its more balanced now. Hello, whats all this white crumbs on my new SM?? Crikey its plaster muck from the ceiling which vibrated down and rained on the speaker (ceiling is acoustic perforated type). Ok thats good, speakers first, house second!

Cheers,
Gary.

Enjoying your 1st impressions with subs guy,s . With large subs for HT it really adds emotion to all movies viewed , but talking about it does not convey this effect. You need to sit in the seat and experience it for yourself .

    Cheers Victor.

Yes you are right Victor, they suck you right into the scene/movie and elicit emotions from you that you are unsure how it happened, it just did, and yes hard to explain in words much better to just experience it.

These things are, in a word - brilliant!!

I watched Inception last night with the GF, (sub set at -8dB, and master volume at -10dB and a quick Audessy calib) and the LFE effects were something to behold! I'm not sure if I'm easily pleased having never owned a sub before, or if the Submersive is as good as I think it is.... Either way, the bass was clean and tight with no slackness, the front window was rattling form behind the curtains and you could feel the explosions washing over you with the phenomenal air movement of the sub!  :D

Thanks one again to yorac, kill3m and Mark for making this all possible!

Cheers,

smeggett

Only had a quick play with it last night for about 30 mins after a quick and nasty 2 point set up. Set speakers to small and cross overs at 80.

As everyone has mentioned they are packaged excellent and also very well thought out of

Watched the bass test thing from the included disk that came with the Submersive and was quite impressed. Everything was vibrating, had to look around at my equipment rack and move things to prevent it.

Then moved onto Flight of the phoenix crash scene – Was good but not mind blowing like I would have expected. Then tried Master and commander cannon fight – again not mind blowing and felt it somewhat underwhelming. The bass was there but was not pronounced. Both these were are relatively high volumes at about -10.

Planning on running an 8point calibration tonight so that should help a bit, also might try running it slightly hot. Again orientation might not be ideal so a 90degree turn will be tried. After that will be onto a full viewing of cloverfield to see how it goes.

One thing I noticed was that my speakers (Vaf DC-X) now seam slightly harsher that what I remember without the subM. Strange I know but felt fatigued after my half hour session, could have been the high volumes I was using.

Will report back after some more listening and after further calibration.

I do not have flight of the Phoenix but I always use the opening scene of M and C for demos of my old sub.  Perhaps it has something to do with placement.    I spent a lot of time putting my REL in the best position for the room.

Now I have dropped the SubM into the same place and I tell  you it makes the REL look like a plaything.  When I run M and C its like their are cannons going off in the lounge room and that is no audessy and at -10 on sub and -10 on the denon 3808A.

I am sure room gain has a big effect on the iimpression you get.  My inexpert 2 cents worth.   :)

btw only running one subm at the moment

Just had the sparky in today to put a GPO up on the wall for my plasma wall mount operation.  Had him run an extra 20 amp circuit with 2 x GPO just for the submersives to keep them separate from the rest of the AVR etc power sources.

SEATON SUBMERSIVE & CATALYST12C REVIEW PART 1

Hey Fellow Seatonites,

I was going to do the most in-depth kickarse review but instead, at this stage, this is all you get (sorry  )

Review Pt 1 and as every Seaton owner already knows, the Submersives are BIG and the packaging is A1, same deal for the Cats.

I cant describe what this set-up has done for me, suffice to say that i have arrived in HT Nirvana, that place where even a previous 10K system sounds very much now like a HTITB.

BladeRnR, i am indebted to you for life, you had the balls of steel to go the Seaton path purely on thorough research and intuition (a fact the naysayers to this day refuse to aknowledge). There's virtually no-way i would have what i have now if it wasn't for you and your generosity, thank-you :)

I have watched the plane crash scene in KNOWING about 20 times, tonight i jumped in my seat 2-3 times watching that scene, words cannot describe the emotion the Cats/Submersives combo elicits, nor can the limited emoticons of this forum..................... :)
