My parents are looking for someone to come out to their place to revamp their TV antenna system. They live about half way between Bendigo and Maryborough in Victoria - their digital TV signal comes from the Mt Alexander transmitter.
The old aerial is attached to the chimney - it works fine until the wind blows it off alignment (which is fairly frequently) and they're too old to be getting up on the roof all the time to fix it (and I'm too far away to do it for them).
I believe the aerial wiring in the house was put in about 8 or 9 years ago so that should be fine - there are currently 5 outlets in the house, another one needs to be put in the kitchen. I imagine a masthead splitter/amplifier will be needed as part of the new installation.
What my parents are looking for is a reputable antenna person who can install a new antenna, take down the old one and put in an extra connection into the kitchen. They had one guy come out and quote but they aren't happy with his attitude and suggestions like "I can run a cable straight out of the kitchen wall into the TV and just put a bit of silicon around it". He was also moaning about running a cable down the wall cavity of a double brick home. The guy quoted around $600 for the job - that sounded reasonable to me.
Any ideas on a reasonable price for the job?
Please PM me with any suggestions of a suitable installer.

If the TV isn't wallmounted then a cable straight out of the wall and into the tv isn't really kosher, sounds like the guy was a slacko... and if he's prepared to take a shortcut on not installing a wall plate or can't be bothered with a double brick cavity wall then he's not the guy you want doing the job.
I'd send a pm to forum member MTV he's in Marong and when he hasn't got his red cape and blue suit on

Thanks I'll drop him a PM.
Whoever my parents decide on it won't be for a few days as the roads are closed around them with floods.
