I am wall mounting a 65" TV and was wondering if this wall would be ok without any additional bracing? It's the wall on the LHS.

Unfortunately we can't see your attachment.

In general, structural integrity is pretty hard to discern from a picture anyway.

If your wall has timber studs and noggins just make sure you screw into them with the bracket.

Should be fine. If in doubt, look in your local paper and get in a carpenter for probably <$100.

Ooops sorry about that. Image is 7 years old back when I built: http://www.dtvforum....t...st&id=10924

This is the first part of my problem. The second part is deciding on a 65" screen Plasma/LED.

No problem at all.

Just ensure the mounting bracket is attached to the wall studs.

just make sure you screw or bolt the bracket properly and attach it to you TV but before you put your TV try hang other things same weight like your tv if it is rely good to proceed if it looks ok then you can attach your TV but insure that your brackets are straight

Just did this recently with a (heavy) 65 inch Panasonic.
Fixing was to plaster stud interior wall, similar to your picture.
Use a stud finder & carefully mark each side of the stud, then the centre between the marks should be the centre of the stud.
The studs are usually around 450 to 500mm apart, but can vary a lot.
Use strips of masking tape to protect wall when marking out.
Stay away from power points & switches as 240 volt cables may be running thru holes drilled in the studs by the electrician during construction.
You may have to redrill holes in mounting bracket ( i did) so it lines up to existing wall studs.
Measure twice to ensure no stuff up.
Drill pilot holes straight thru masking tape, the pilot holes help guide the bolts & prevent wood splitting, use a piece of scrap pine to work out pilot drill size
Use heavy gauge screws (I used hex head coach bolts) long enough to get around 40 or 50mm into the studs, if you allow another 10mm for the thickness of plaster, your screws will be 50 or 60mm long plus the thickness of the wall hanging bracket. A small socket set is handy to tighten screws
Make sure the wall is flat, pack out the wall bracket if necessary, dont try to twist the display or you will regret it.
Use a good long spirit level to ensure it sits true.
If it comes out not quite level, work out how far it has to move & in which direction & then file the mounting bracket holes with a small round file to correct the error
Before you start, work out at what height you want the screen. I did mine with the centre of the screen at eye height when seated & found this to be perfect.

Whatever you do, dont use wallmates or any fixings that hang on the plaster, you must fix to the studs !!!!
Good luck.

This is what I would consider the most important aspect, but some have apparently hung their TVs only into the plasterboard - no studs
