I got an email from them offering various specials. You decided what you wanted and in my case it was 5 box office movies for 10c each for the month of November. I spun their wheel until I got the prize I wanted and got the message that i'd won! Along with the instruction to go ahead order the movies and not to worry when my account shows full price as it would auto adjust when the end of month invoice is generated.

Nobody's mentioned it on this forum, but did everyone or anyone else get the same email offer?

I turned off a couple of packages (Living and Quest) while the Commonwealth games were on. I have now decided I really don't miss these channels at all.  I find I can get some of the TV shows I do like to watch from these packages off the internet anyway!

So I will use my "Spin The Wheel" to put some of the channels I have lost back on again for 5 weeks.  My MyStar HD box will be flat out recording during that time and this will save me some bandwidth.

Yep...have done it too...you could actually use your mouse to virtually stop the wheel where you wanted.

That's what I did - had a look at all the different options and chose the extra channel option (comedy channel etc, free until the end of the year).

I had two prize options, a discount on a travel agency and a discount from Snapfish. I deleted the email. Apparently 10 years at over $100 per month doesn't count for decent loyalty rewards. This is one of those examples where a promotion has triggered a negative reaction.

I also took the 5 Box office movies on the wheel. Has any one tried to claim any yet? I looked at was what was on offer on Box office, and lo and behold there is not a lot that interests me this month.

I never used to get emails until after downloaded the Austar Anywhere application. From memory, that gets you to nominate an email addy, and asks if you want to subscribe to emails/promo's etc. As I say, only just started to receive them. Part ogf my brain also recollects updating the My Account page, and there was probably an option in for emails there too?

Hope that may help?

Austar have my email address.  A check of my profile configuration shows that its set to receive Austar's newsletters.  Not getting email promos isn't anything unexpected.  When Austar used to mail out glossy promo leaflets etc receiving one was fairly hit and miss, with more misses than hits.  I doubt Austar could manage the proverbial pissup in a brewery.

I've had Austar for years.  In fact, one time several years aog when I had to call them up with an issue, the CSO commented "Oh, you're a long term subscriber".... and at that stage I'd only had it for two years.   :huh:

Much the same situation here - been an Austar subscriber since the 'Galaxy' days.

But in my case I don't even have the cheap box office movies option on my "wheel".  I get to choose from:

* 10% off a holiday (like who can take a holiday with no notice?)
* a snapfish mug (wow!!)
* a cheap snapfish calendar
* an even cheaper snapfish photo 'album'

Jeez it's good to know that Austar values my loyalty!

I wouldn't have bothered if they'd limited me to those pov options.  I had and took the box office movies but would have taken the showtime package if that had been available to the wheel they gave me.

We did have our mobile phone through Austar as well, but last week churned it to Virgin. Perhaps Austar offer more depending on the number of services you take from them?

Nope.  I operate my own mail server and can state beyond any doubt that no such message was even attempted to be delivered to the address registered with Austar.  Just in case Austar has difficulties delivering to my domain (God only knows why) I have now updated it to use my ISP email address.  I don't expect it to be any more successful though.

I used to always get emails from Catchoftheday.com.

All of a sudden they stopped. I contacted them, and all my details were still valid and I was on theri email list. I also gave them an alias, however those don't get through either...maybe it is an isp thing?

But for my domain being run by my own mail server I'd agree with you.

I didnt get a Migrations email, but I got the October newsletter about the Commonwealth games. Ive only been with Austar for about 6 months though.

Maybe it depends on what packages you have, beacause Im on the full package, theres not much else they can offer me.

Except cheap FBO movies lol...Id love that
