If it's in the yellow map, yes, Dec 15 is the date applications for VAST activation will be authorised.

I expect it will be the NINE component (incl Gem & Go) via Imparja.

'Blackspots' are now considered places within a terrestrial coverge area which cannot receive the terrestrial signals reliably, but at this time, VAST will not be made available to 'blackspots' outside the yellow map areas until 6 months prior to the analogue switchoff date for that terrestrial transmission area..... stupid, I know. Hope this is reconsidered for those who have no terrestrial reception in some blackspots now, but are not in 'yellow map' areas.

Thanks Col,

I always thought that Imparja programming was a mix of nine and ten ,but as Ten seem to have their own channels listed on VAST  ,I guess your probably right and they will be a NINE programme .

Question
So say someone wanted to get VAST in the yellow map area after 15 DEC,what is the procedure?

Do they have to contact VAST directly or ACMA or is there some paperwork that comes with a VAST approved (read UEC) box that explains all this .I'm very green in all this area

I'd be lost without it...daylight savings make it a bit hard though.....everything out an hour on Imparja times when that happens.

Aurora poor picture quality (compression), but at least an alternative to nothing I suppose....VAST access.....grrrrr...I'll have to rent a PO Box at Ebor and sneek the receiver home.

Have you authorised installers been informed, or is it too early yet in the change over process?

The only information I have been able to discover is there will be a review process for those people who, post switchover, are unable to receive terrestrial transmissions in their supposed coverage area.

I have no idea of the time frame, or the procedures that may be required.

I suggest, if you have not done so already, call the switchover line (1800 20 10 13) and ask. :)

Happy to be corrected if wrong.

.....

Reminds me of an old song...Stuck in the middle with you?....

Clowns to the left of me......

In response to a question I asked of VAST administration, specifically relating to current ABA58 approvals in Tasmania, the response I received today was:

Quote

.....viewers who currently have Out of Area approval for the Aurora services will be able to register for VAST from the 15th December.

However, any future out of area applications will be considered within 6 months of the switch off of analogue in your area.

.....jokers to the right :D

I did not ask what the mechanism of the approval process would be post switchoff.
