Channel 7 have bought the rights for 2 years for all 5 series of the show(111 episodes), and can run each episode twice for 2 runs over that period with it likely to be on the 7mate channel, but no timeslot decided yet..if they do 2 runs and show all episodes twice that means at least 2 episodes a week.
It will be interesting to see if they edit the shows as they are all around 45 to 50 minutes long, instead of the usual 42 minute shows of now, so to fit them into a one hour slot they may have to cut some parts out, which apparantly happens in other countries.
Any cable channel could acquire rights to the show during this period as well, so if TV1 wanted to show it again they could, or another channel like Universal, 111Hits, Classics etc.
So its history in Australia will be…channel 9, channel 10, TV1, 7mate
With Michael Mann’s new show Luck set to air next year on Showcase, it will be good to see Miami Vice back on TV as well.
