Anyone confirm if we are missing out on the fifth disc?

Well, I'll tell you what. You make it through tomorrow without killing anybody, especially me, or yourself, then I'll start trusting you.

I'm still interested in hearing any news on whether the Aus box set has the 5th "bonus" disc!
I ordered from the UK which apparently includes it, but the Aus set is cheaper

Doesn't look like it, at least not for 1 and 2, which the specs show as being the older "dolby digital 5.1" versions with basic extras. 3 & 4 are more tricked out with DTS-MA and commentaries, etc.
..and it's a 4 disc set (slimline + slipcase)

Oh, so the UK version is better, which has the new transfers for 1 & 2?
I find it hard to believe they would slap the old discs for 1 & 2 in the AU version of this set, when the UK version definitely has new transfers for both.

I'm really confused, because weren't the original Aussie releases of movies 1 and 2 Directors Cuts, so the UK versions are actually going backwards even though they may be remastered? It's gonna be a tough choice then: remastered or Directors Cut (integrated).
It will really annoy me if the UK Directors Cut scenes really are included as extras and not integrated into the movie as an option: haven't they heard of seamless branching?

If I had to choose, I would take a remastered version. I've seen too many upconverts (particularly from Warner) that were simply not worth the money.

LW1 = 110 min (117 min Directors Cut)
LW2 = 114 min (118 min Directors Cut)
LW3 = 118 min (121 min Directors Cut)
LW4 = 127 min
I was sure that I had seen LW1 and LW2 with Directors Cut on the cover, more recently, but I must be mistaken.
Were they re-released in different versions on Bluray (before the latest 4-pack)?
The most frustrating thing is that the studios aren't putting accurate and detailed info on the cover art for many titles, so it's next to impossible deciding whether a product is satisfactory to purchase.

I hate it when they lower the price shortly after release: doesn't give the consumer any incentive to pre-order.
I inspected the stand-alone copy of LW1 at JB and there is no mention of Director's Cut on the cover. The runtime is 110 min, so basically the Theatrical edition, however there are "additional scenes" mentioned which I assume are separate deleted scenes.
I realise now why I thought these might be Director's Cuts, with the additional scenes integrated into the movie, because JB online states:
Quote
With over seven minutes of previously unavailable scenes, the director's cut of Lethal Weapon is a long-overdue present for fans. Riggs' solitary home life and the tragic loss spurring him in a reckless disregard for his own safety now come into greater focus. We see that recklessness is new scenes underlining the differences between the two cops. Murtaugh, just 50, needs reassurance about his skills at a firing range. Riggs, not caring if he sees another birthday, coolly walks into a schoolyard sniper's field of fire. All the humor and adrenaline that made this original an entertainment milestone are here, too. No scenes have been removed. But new action and new insight are now included. Include yourself in the excitement.
JB have just responded to an email I sent about the "Director's Cut" stated on their website:

About as useful as tits on a bull.
The DVD shows Director's Cut on the cover, so maybe this is the good old BD/DVD confusion.

Really disappointed to see that Warners have shafted Australia/NZ with a product that is markedly inferior to what we can get from the UK.

I have a pending order for the UK boxset, but I'm considering canceling as I don't think they have released definitive versions yet and I'm getting real tired of half-arsed efforts and multiple dips by the studios, still at fairly high release prices. Neither LOTR, BTTF, Predator(s), LW(s), etc have been done justice recently.

Either JB think that separate additional scenes constitute a Director's Cut of a movie, or else the packaging is incorrect and the previous versions were actually Director's Cuts.

The WB retailer site currently shows the incorrect information (i've just emailed them to let them know)... so JB are simply using what they are supplied with. Of course, that doesn't excuse taking such a lazy position, seeing as past examples have shown that many-a-distributor simply copy/paste info between the various DVD releases, as well as to BD ... so they should be use to occasionally double checking this stuff when someone questions it.... i know i do...

A definite purchase from the UK for me now. All 4 movies remastered and all come with DTS HD MA 5.1 soundtracks.

Yeh but the initial release of LW2 had terrible aliasing, the new one in the UK set has a much better transfer in comparison.
