Hey there,
Was just curious if anyone could shed some light on this, my plasma has just switched itself & has gone into standby mode & the power light is now blinking red, weird hey, it's less than 12mths old & has never had any problems. The off timer has never been used, I've tried the usual of un-plugging & re powering but the problem persists. Does anyone have any suggestions or if you could offer some advice it would be hugely appreciated.

Many thanks,
Nifto

Does your manual mention anything about rebooting like pressing and holding the power/standby button on the TV for 5 seconds like my Philips does. Also is the blinking a sequence of flashes like 4 short and one long which would mean something to a service tech. Get a service call in before your 12 months ? warranty runs out.

I had a similar problem back in February with my TH42PZ80A, whole family left house in the morning, TV was fine, returned home that evening, turned it on and could here the power supply switch on, then straight off.

Light flashed 10 times, took it straight to our service department and it was fixed under warranty inside a week :D

I think I remember the service job card mentioned replacing a power supply, cost $250 (not sure if it was part only, or included labour)

Good luck with it :)

starts flashing red and doesn't turn on
Again, if removing all connected devices from the HDMI ports doesn't resolve the issue, then you will almost certainly need to contact Panny for support & let us know how you go. If you want a pointer as to what exactly is wrong, count the number of red flashes between pauses. From the doco noted in my previous message, here are the "SOS" error codes for the 11th gen panel such as that used in the 42PZ800a
1 Communication Error with microcomputer
2 15V SOS
3 3.3V SOS
4 Power Supply SOS
5 5V SOS
6 SC Energy recovery SOS
7 SC floating voltage SOS
8 SS Energy recovery SOS
9 Panel Configuration SOS
10 Sub 5V SOS, Main 3.3V SOS, DTV9V SOS, Tuner SOS
11 Fan SOS PB
12 Sound SOS
13 Communication Error with Peaks Lite-2
For example, if you see 11 red flashes in a row, then it is likely that a fan has failed. If you see 4 flashes, then it's the power supply.... It is definitely not unusual for fans or power supplies to fail. Similar to computer hard drives, sometimes these will fail within the first month or two, but if not then they are likely to last for years. Other than manufacturing faults, things that will cause early fan failures are dust and heat, things that will cause early power supply failures are dust, heat, and power power quality (surges/brown outs). Keeping dust levels down and making sure vents don't get clogged, ensuring decent power supply (a UPS such as one from APC is always a good idea but if you live in an area with poor power, would suggest it as being mandatory), and ensuring sufficient air flow around the panel to keep it as cool as possible.

Thanks for the heads up on the pana error codes. The 4 flashes I've had on the Philips seemed to coincide with power brownouts evidenced by other appliances needing to be reset. Turning on and off again clears it. It's heading for 5 yo now and still under warranty till then. I'm actually looking forward to replacing it with something new but it's probably going to last forever.
