Hello fellow DTV'ers
I'm looking at selling my Sony KV-EH36M31 36inch FD (Flat Display) Trinitron WEGA Widescreen HD TV
I was wondering if anyone would be interested or could give me some advice on what it might go for?
For anyone interested the TV is located in Queanbeyan (next to Canberra) and pick is really the only option as the TV weights in at 94kg and I suspect postage would be a killer ;-)
The TV is in excellent condition, remote works, however I cannot locate the manual but I'll look again.
It is currently used to view blu-rays via PS3, playing Wii, and watching HD material via WDTV Live.

I'd say you'd get $250 - $350 for it selling on ebay.

Sellers seem to think they are worth more, but I reckon 250ish is a fair price.

FWIW the manual is available as a pdf by googling, so I wouldn't worry about not having the manual.
I assume everyone here knows about these TVs? If not, they were pretty much the best consumer CRT's around. 1080i, 720p, and great picture (yeah I owned one). Of course, the downside is they are simply massive, and, these days, relatively small screen. But if you have the room, they are awesome.

CRT's are hardly "massive", they are very heavy for their size and are relatively deep, but a 42" flat panel takes up more room.
A large flat panel is "massive" in comparison and takes up a lot of space unless it is wall mounted. A 65" panel makes a 34" CRT look insignificant.

A 65" plasma can be wall mounted. One of these (very nice) Sony CRTs weighs 85kgs and takes a shelf/cabinet that is about 1 meter deep... even without wall mounting the plasma it means it takes up a lot more space. In my apartment I know which I prefer (even ignoring screen size).
So yeah, I'd call it massive.

Most people do not wall mount their flat panel TV and the set top boxes, AV gear, etc need to be stored somewhere and that's typically in the entertainment unit under the TV.
The 86cm Sony is 590mm deep not 1 metre, it will sit on a stand that takes up about half the floor area of an entertainment unit for a 65" panel and the big flat panel is much taller and wider which makes it very imposing compared to the little CRT and its little stand.
If I tried to replace our 86cm CRT TV and its dedicated stand that is no bigger than the TV with even a 50" panel and an appropriate entertainment unit my wife would tell me to bugger off quick smart.
As far as viewing is concerned I would much rather view a decent size screen, the 86cm (34" actual screen size) is small even for the 1.8 metre viewing distance they we use.

The custom unit I had made to hold the Sony CRT I had is 1 meter deep, and according to the manual the telly is 605mm deep:
