Please fill out a new poll form for each SD STB you have had
Thank you for your participation.

PVRs are still infinitely more useful than STBs, so I filled it out for my Toppy 5K, which still gets use although my HD PVR gets most of the use these days. So PVR owners are going to skew your (unknown agenda) poll here.

I'm not sure your poll is going to gather enough information to be able to answer this question

Bought a Strong SD set top so kids could watch ABC 2 1st would switch itself off and on again taking about 5-10 seconds very annoying. Returned to HN who said "strange, have not had any of these returned yet" so took another thinking it was that one. The next one lasted longer before doing the same thing. Later bought a cheap camcorder (another brand) at HN - the sales guy said the same thing - are they trained in this? Lucky the ST box was only $50. Should have got a PVR.

Where's the poll on "how long has alanh been fixated?"
Who gives a bugger - apart from fixated and decidedly weird individuals that is; how long or not someone has had, or will continue to use an SD STB, given FTA isn't about to go exclusively HD or 3D or whatever flavour of transmission the fixated one has convinced themselves is going to arrive on the scene like an "all-conquering technology" simply because they like it...
The results will be as relevant (to all but the poll instigator who seriously seems to think the insight/s will be shattering enough that they just had to set the poll up in the first place... after all these years one wonders why nobody else did when the opportunity has been there if it was that relevant all along) as finding out how long a piece of string is...
Besides: the questions are about as well thought out and logical as a George W. Bush speech!!
"When did you stop using it?" has "I'm still using it" as a response... as does "Why did you stop using it?"!!
I'm tempted to ask the poll instigator the same questions with "Your brain" as the object of the enquiry... even if the results of such a poll are much more foregone than any poll on present SD STB useage are ever gonna be...

All I can conclude from these results is that nobody wants to replace the 12, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 channels with different programming to 1, 20, 30, 50, 60 ,70 ,80, 90.
Commercial stations need to have all programs available to all viewers otherwise they won't supply the best quality programs.
This would be in addition to TEN, ABC2, ABC3, SBS2, Southern Cross, Prime2, 72, GO!
This could occur if there were no SD STBs. Now all new decompressor integrated circuit decompress HD, SD in MPEG-4 and MPEG-2.

Incidentally, if you re-read your post you'll discover why there aren't any MPEG-4 AVC terrestrial transmissions in Australia and you'll discover why the government is not proposing any such transmissions 'for the foreseeable future'.

There is no hard evidence of how many people are using SD STBs. Well, I am no longer using it and the last one in use was 2011 and today re-scanned the three of them. Yep, three SD PVRs and one of them for a new home.
