Flat rate $4.90 shipping
I have purchased from them a couple of times and customer service is great, the site is easy to navigate as well, and they always have a huge library of specials:
http://www.mightyape...u-ray/Specials/
I've actually bought blu-rays, PC games, PS3 games & accessories, and books from them. I think the site started in NZ but has expanded into Australia.
I personally love the wish list feature - you can prioritise items, add notes, and have e-mail notifications whenever there is a price drop or an item is back in stock.
Oh, they also have "Mighty Ape Daily Deals" - basically bargain basement prices on 4 items for 1 day. They recently (yesterday I think) had the Blade Runner blu-ray for $15, but sadly I missed out because it already sold out - I actually found out about the deal 4 hours into the sale so it could've sold out in 10mins for all I know...

of course - VAT is NOT removed from The Hut or Zavvi for purchases sent here to Aust or NZ.
Looks like Gerry Harvey is going to have a HEART ATTACK !!!

dunno if its already been posted but
AMAZON UK is offering free shipping to Australia. Also they take off the VAT tax before you check out so the price you see is not the price you pay it works out to be less.

Ordered 13 Blu Ray movies from Amazon/UK on 12/05/11, 2 movies were due to be released on the 16/05/11
Dispatched order on the 17/05/11
Order came today 23/05/11
only worry at this point is the order was split into 2 parcels (why i don't know) and have only received 1 of the 2
fingers crossed the other one turns up
But on the positive side it only took 7 days to arrive, 60% cheaper than AUS, none of the movies cropped, some of them with higher quality audio tracks, some movies can not even get here, VAT removed and FREE SHIPPING.
So far i'm impressed.
Now for my next HUGE order to get the rest of what i want before it all ends.
cheers
Ian

I just bought a blu-ray player last night based on the prices of the discs I have been seeing in stores lately. With it I bought from JB, Raging Bull & Children of Men for a 2for$20 deal. A few weeks ago JB had Pulp Fiction & Kick-Ass included in a buy 2 get 3 for $16ea or something (and I missed it!). Yesterday I found highlander for $15 at Sanity of all places.
Today I have been searching around looking for all these online bargains and frankly don’t see it. The only good price I found was GBP30 for POTA collection.
I don’t see the benefit . I understand some savings for new and/or rare movies – is it really only here where the benefits are obvious?
It seems someone like me, who can wait for discs to appear in the specials bin, there is no cost benefit when factoring in freight and wait time. Or am I too new at this.
edit:
Case in point. Went back to Sanity and picked up-
*Highlander
*Kick-ass
*Coraline
*Despicable me
4 Blu-ray for exactly $50
I inputted them into amazonUK and got a total of 36 pound. It did offer me a further 10 pound discount so 26 pounds + shipping = AUD44 + shipping (+ waiting)

Not sure 'exactly' what you are getting at or trying to draw attention too with your post in this thread..... however..... a few things....
1. The titles which you 'found' cheap have been around for a long time and have reached their discount lives. They are 'bargains' in many people's eyes - and they 'aren't' the type of titles that many on here would IMPORT from Amazon UK or US.
2. The titles that you found at inSanity are the same as the above - cheap older titles because the local distributors are marking them down. (Added - if you don't mind SEALED Blu-rays then you can go to town with inSanity)
3. Frankly you can see BARGAINS if you look at this site and look at our threads, or monitor some prices at blu-ray.com. BUT MUCH DEPENDS on what you WANT and how long you are prepared to wait.
4. STAR WARS - JB / $119 vs AMAZON UK $84 - after VAT. I can show you many more of these examples. (and the OFLC LOGO and FOX 6 DISC LOGO is mightly offputting on the local cover IMO)
5. Not sure what Amazon UK 'offered' as a 10pd discount - but - there is FREE SHIPPING for purchases over 25pds. And many on here are taking full advantage of that.
6. Combos aren't always available in this country.
7. Not all titles will be available in Australia.
8. Many local releases have incorrect ratios. A bugbear with many on here.
It's up to yourself and your wallet as to where you spend it - however - there are many bargains in the US and UK - and not only on Blu-rays but also CDs, DVDs, clothes, computers, etc. I shop where I get better value for my $$.

I have used Mightyape a few times, but will not be using them ever again as they add classification stickers over the classification that's included on the label and they put the sticker/s directly on the paper, so it's practically impossible to remove without damaging the paper and therefore the artwork.

Well you did a great job answering it anyway. As I suspected, its new releases & rarities which offer benefits.

fairy nuff. but its not even released yet, so $ may vary here but i'll leave that for the "fans". the logo must be a very personal annoyance. An irrelevant point, but I wonder if im the only one looking at buying ONLY ep4?

More than a bugbear with me! is this really common? I will watch a VHS in correct aspect over a BR chopped up. I will certainly watch out for this. Can you give an example of a BR with wrong aspect. Wrong aspects definitively justify going OS

There's a "short" list here. Be careful with Amazon UK, as UK releases often get the same treatment as we do. US releases are a lot more reliable (albeit may be region locked) and Amazon US is generally good with specifying aspect ratios, unlike their UK site which doesn't bother.

anyway.... the thread is for shipping rates ........ there's a few other threads in the Blu-ray section regarding bargains, ratios, state of the format, players, region coding, places to shop, places to ignore.....

I seem to remember that inetvideo used to list whether or not their BD's were from USA or Cananda, this seems to be missing now? I just checked Sin City and the only indication of the picture of the back coverwork. I'm sure it used to say something along the lines of Canadian Release or something?

It's the firs time I've ever used them. I pre-ordered their exclusive X-Men First Class steelbook. It was shipped yesterday. It arrived today! This isn't even supposed to be out until the 19th.
Yeah, I paid $30 for it but I didn't want to wait until the 31st to get it from Amazon UK.
Thanks Sanity!

WOAHHHHHHHH - DON'T LIKE THIS NEW WEB STYLE - whatever happened to the 'keep it simple' principle ?? Font is too big ~ and far far far too much wasted 'white' space.

So for the people who haven't purchased for a while or who can't be bothered going back over old posts consider this news.
