I own a Teac HDR2500T pvr and have just updated the latest firmware version 1/4/2011. After the update I could not rewind the program. After looking through the manual I found that the menu is suppose to have an option to be able to start the timeshift automatically or turn off. This menu item has been removed by the firmware update.
I enquired with Teac why and there response was "The reason the timeshift feature was removed from the menu is because it shorten the life of HDD. Therefore, the Timeshift will only work on pause mode."
The problem is if you have missed something and want to rewind the show you can't. This is a normal pvr function that Teac has removed. Should have been left up to the user to decide to turn on or off by the menu.
If you don't want this feature removed don't update the latest firmware and register your protest with Teac.

Thanks for the warning goodie99.  What a stupid move by Teac. Instead of adding features they take away ones you've already paid for.
Although I don't use my 2500 any more, I use timeshift enough to make it a necessary function for me, and my 2 other PVR's have it.
However, I don't have my PVR's turned on until I'm ready to use them, so the hard drives aren't churning away 24/7.

I have been putting up with a few issues with my 2500t for months a lot of the channels wouldnt display the epg and some channels had very poor signal. Today I did a search and found there was a never version of firmware i.e. 29/04/11, I was still on 2010 fw so I downloaded and upgraded my pvr. From about an hours of usage I am very happy I now get all channels with epg:) I was a bit worried about the timeshift only working on pause as mentioned above so had a look in the system menu and was happy to see that it can be changed from pause to always. Hopefully I will get a few more years out of the unit now.

I have taken the hdd out and put it in an external case and connected it to my pc with the hope of copying the recordings off of it. Anyway I can't access the hdd does anyone know how I would do this? Would project x work?

Hi there – Ours is doing the restart thing as well and but we have tried the turn off etc and it still is in a constant loop restarting.
Our machine has been somewhat of a lemon with having a few problems but is not yet 2 years old.
Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

Following on the yesterdays post - spoke to teac this morning, I was told to download the latest firmware and install that! Hello mr teac, can't install as machine is constantly rebooting, thus I cannot get to a screen on the TV that would allow me to re-install firmware off USB.
