This isnt the first time this has happened in our house, but the first time on this TV. I went to watch Oceans 13 the other night after playing some Xbox only to be greeted with a "no signal" error. I tried all the channel 9s my television had on the channel list, and the same thing on all of them. I flicked over to analog, and it was working fine (albeit a terrible quality picture). I checked my parents television, which was getting the digital signal fine.
So I ran a scan for channels and got everything but the channel 9s. Ive done this each day since then and still the same problem, no channel 9s. My TV is a Samsung LA40RBD1X. My parents are using a settop box of unknown brand, and there is a Series 5 or 6 samsung in another room that I havent checked but I presume is working OK because no one has complained they cant get channel 9 on it (yet) Previously my parents STB lost channel 9 although it has been working fine since then. All other channels besides SBS work fine - we recently had our antenna upgraded to resolve some problems we had with signal quality (we are in a low part of the area and were using an ancient antenna previously) but those are gone now. is anyone else having this problem? it seems strange that a previously working channel can just disappear? EDIT: didnt notice the sticky previously, if a mod could move this to the correct section id be grateful. thanks and apologies. This post has been edited by varvs: Jul 29 2009, 04:10 PM |

varvs,
You haven't mentioned where you are, but the problem sounds like it's insufficient-signal related. The outlet your TV is connected to may have lower signal strength/quality than others in your house, or your tuner may be a little less-sensitive than others. Apart from channel 9, you also said other channels besides SBS work and you recently had work done on your antenna, which would appear to not have solved your reception problems. I'd recommend having the installer return to rectify the problems. |

Go to the Geographic Viewers’ Forum, which is near the bottom of the main forum’s home page. Select your region and read the pinned post “Get the Best Reception”. Please post any further correspondence in that strand for all in your region to see. I will see it anyway. You could also search your location in that strand for others in your area.
The answers depend on what transmitters you are trying to receive and what you are using now to receive the signal. So on the appropriate forum state your location and whether you are using a roof antenna, indoor antenna or from an antenna system in a block of apartments. AlanH |

Funny, I have the same problem with my WINTV (channel 9 - Illawarra) stations. Tonight I have lost all WINTV signals on one of my Samsung TV's (LA26R7), whislt the other Samsung (LED UA46B7100) and an Aldi tuner in a media centre PC still received the channels ok (a bit blocky tonight due to strong winds).
I live in the Wollongong northen suburb of Woonona. |

Receivers do perform differently. And the signals distributed around a house can vary a bit as well. By the way, welcome to the forum. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

I am in the Hills district. We lost all channel 9 stations today. We had a new antenna on a 20ft mast installed 2 months ago and everything has worked up untill today. The TV is a Panasonic PZ800a...under a year old. Has this got anything to do with CH9's Go station that was launched today?
Anyone else around here lost their CH9 today? I am not completely worried.....didn't watch much of CH9 anyway really...... |

There's some more info over in this post.
Extract "GO! – Australia-wide Digital TV Upgrade From midday Wednesday, August 5th, 2009 GO! will be established on the Digital Television system across Australia. As a result of the introduction of GO! some digital viewers may experience a small disruption to Nine / WIN / NBN channels on their digital TV, set-top-box or PVR. If viewers experience disruption to their viewing, Nine Network recommends they access the setup menu of their digital television or digital set-top-box and "rescan" using the automatic tuning function. This should rectify any problems..." |

I have no idea what i'm doing!! bought a new LCD HD tv on the weekend and cannot for the life of me get it to pick up channels 7 9 or 10 on the digital channel, and when it picks up ABC or SBS the picture tends to be dodgy at best. I dont know if I need to buy new cables or if it's a dodgy antenna!! i'm so confused!!

an antenna cable can only go in the one spot on your tv.
try a different cable to see if that makes any difference to your reception, if no, then it's likely to be your outlet or the antenna itself which will need an installer in. you may need to change your antenna to a digital one. I had really bad channel 10 and ONE HD reception and had to get a new digital antenna as well as extending the pole to heighten the antenna for better reception. check the analog channels to see if you can pick those up. |

QUOTE (bo279) alright...just had another look. seems like channel 9 is playing around...i just found them on channel: 350 - GO! 351 - Nine SD 352 - Nine HD You are getting multiples of channels. Do a factory default reset of your tuner (deletes everything) then do a scan. This post has been edited by mtv: Aug 5 2009, 10:37 PM |

Channel 9, 90 and 99 are just missing from my TV. There is full reception of Ch 350, 351 and 352. My PVR gets SD channel 9 but there's no sound. Looks like someone stuffed in Ch 9 big time. BTW I'm in Sydney's Eastern suburbs . This post has been edited by kulfi: Aug 5 2009, 10:39 PM |

But as a result I can no longer just type 9 or 90 to get to Channel 9. this seems ridiculous, are we going to have to remember random numbers like this after every new service gets added? Is there a way to get channel 9 back on to 9 and 90? |
