Discovery +2? What? Seeing the same content every 4 hours isn't sufficient you need to be able to see it repeated every 2 hours? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

Conceivably, you would now be able to watch, and what are all ready repeats, the same Mythbusters and American Chopper shows 12 times a day!

being austar, Jan 1 2010, lol, and then they will stuff it up, somehow.....I am so hoping the HD box is better then the crappy sd box, I have to scroll channels now if I want to watch another channel, wont let me type the numbers in, and of course when u scroill up comes the number 5 or 7 or you get the active menu, **** box shot box **** box, I really hope the new box is better, if they ever release it. OPn a different note, in my local shopping centre today there was an Austar booth promoting Austar and the mystar, but it wasnt the silver sd box, it was the new HD box, when I asked I was told it was simply the mystar box, this is the only one we have....... interesting

Was the booth all rickety and shakey like the MyStar? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

Maybe you can go back and try to have a good fiddle with the MyStar HD to see how easy it is to crash or get to misbehave.

Rang Austar this afternoon, to complain yet again about the mystar, and was told the usual line of no complaints about the mystar, and never had these problems with anyone else, so I asked if the mystar HD would be as buggy, the answer was it has the same software, does not instill any sort of confidence in me then, but he did say there wouldnt be any charge for the HD box for existing mystar customers, they send you the box and you simply swap it over and then send the old clunker back to them, if the csr is to be believed, time will tell

I like that idea and of course makes sense.

You're not missing out on much. All they play are repeat shows... and its the same ones over and over again... I don't know how many times I've seen Big, Bigger and Biggest wrt the aircraft carriers. I think I can quote the guy now.

You're not missing out on much - that must be one reason why Austar didn't take them. Who knows, maybe they are in negotiations still? BBC Knowledge will be available though.

So if you don't have mystar now but want to get mystar HD then all you have to do is order mystar now, have it installed (free installation) and then order mystar HD when available and swap it over yourself. Therefore you would avoid $100 upfront (pay $14.95 for one month mystar) and avoid a possible long waiting time to have it installed in November.

I don't think this is the case Gremlin. I think that the $100 upgrade will need to be paid regardless. I gather this will need to be paid before the HD box is shipped?

Apologies if it's already mentioned, but over 7 pages and I didn't spot it. What will the HD resolution be? And what about video compression? ie. will the PQ be that much better than SD, which to some, isn't all that flash to begin with, it seems?

HD resolution on the new channels will be the same as the existing Foxtel HD channels: 1920x1080i (with exception for ESPN HD which is 1280x720p). Compression is all H.264 at bitrates between 7 and 15 Mbps which produces a video quality superior to anything shown on FTA HD channels and close to Blu-ray quality.
