Hey guys,
Well i have done some searching and research but im still at a loss. I live in an unusual area, where we require 2 aerials to get all the channels. (Mount Isa). why you may ask? well its due to the towers around here. the thing is i dont know if i can get away with one aerial? is there a possible solution? or a suggestion of an aerial for just basic use. We only really have harvey norman and DSE to choose from, so it suggestions could come from their range that would be great.

Cheers guys.

Don't they all come from this hump near the hospital.

Don't you need a simple B3/4 horizontal antenna like everyone else in town?

Doesn't the ABC come from this hump here?

Edit: and SBS as well?

You're soo right. Woops. :)

SBS 29 and Impaja 32 on uhf from the hospital and VHF from out of town.

Bit of a bugger.

That will depend where you are in relation to the 2 transmission sites. If you are located such that the look angle of the antenna you use (such as Farmsky's band 3/4 horizontal antenna suggestion) can encompass both sites, then maybe.

Otherwise, you will need 2 separate antennas, VHF band 3 for the DCA site, and UHF band 4 for the Emma Smith site.

Sorry it took so long to answer your specific question. :)

And it's always useful to have a look at what your neighbours doing.

This is the channel allocation of the various channels. The blueish ones (ABC and SBS) are digital.

PS It's amazing that the two transmission locations are on the exact same latitude. Fooled me.

The two transmission locations are also only 2km apart.

If you are on or close to the same lattitude and to the west of the town, a single combination antenna should work fine.

(To the east also, but from Google Earth, there's not much housing out there)

In most cases though, separate VHF and UHF antennas will be required due to the different directions.

yes it appear that the houses around us are using 2, but we dont need one for abc or sbs as we have austar. so hopefully we can get away with one... which one is still a bit of a mystery to me... the more i read the more confused i get.

there is also the problem of getting one of the right antennas out here somewhere. we arent in the mining game so arent cashed up.
