Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong section.  I just moved into my new house and i was trying to tune my tv (old crt one) via the antenna outlet in my lounge room. The only channel that showed up was ABC and even then it was too fuzzy to watch. The people who lived here before us had a plasma or lcd tv connected to what looks like, after searching google for awhile, a  coax outlet on the other side of the room. Outside on the roof directly above this coax outlet there is a some sort of antenna/stick with a cable wrapped around it, i'm not sure if this is from the main antenna or not.

So my question is, has the roof antenna's cables to the outlet i need to use, been redirected or is just a faulty aerial on the roof. If so is this too hard for myself to fix, if so is there any sort of connection i can buy to connect my old crt to the coax outlet where they had their plasma/lcd connected?

thanks for any help
amy

Amy, from your description, it sounds like the antenna has been removed from the mast, and the coax cable wrapped around it.

Is it possible the previous occupants took the antenna with them?

it is possible they took it with them, but there is another antenna on the front of the house so i'm not too sure. rather then getting someone out to have a look and fix it would it be cheaper/easier to just buy some sort of indoor antenna and can you recommend a good one?

thanks
amy

Indoor antennas will only work reliably if you have very good signals in the room where the antenna is located.

Which city/suburb are you in?

Someone in the Brisbane viewers forum may be able to advise the likelihood of success with an indoor antenna in your area.

DSE have a 14 day refund policy, so you could try one and return it if it's not suitable.

M72,
How does your antenna perform on
Channels below channel 6 ie in capital cities, ABC1 analog?
UHF channels ie in capital cities (excluding Hobart), SBS
How directional is the antenna? (VHF and UHF can be different)

How does you antenna compare with the recommendations in Indoor Antennas
