I have a spreadsheet list of people that belong to the DTV forum that live in Perth.
It is useful for when we have one of our rare GTGs as I can use it to send PM's to people to invite them to attend.
It is very primitive at this stage but I wondered if it would be of interest to expand it a bit and circulate it to others.
It could contain as much or as little information as required.
I have no wish to invade peoples privacy.
ie, forum name, real name and email address might be sufficient.
Although suburb name might be good too.

Let me know your thoughts here or PM me.

I already know a dozen or so of you and we have visited each other so any of them can vouch that I have no ulterior motive. :)

I don't know how else I could contribute..

Sounds like a great idea.

The rest of us will then know who to talk a little slower to, and to explain things using simple words...

PM me your details.

Maybe although if one clicks on "View New Posts", one sees them all.

PM received.

Not exactly sure what I was trying to achieve. I guess I just find PMs a bit frustrating at times and thought emails and mobiles might be more efficient.

Currently there are no plans for another GTG like the last one. We need another eastern States visitor to precipitate action!!

I'm sure the mods can somehow improve this? Is there like a Perth group or something that can receive instant email notifications? To be honest i rather talk in person than post.

Or when your house and HT is completed.. :P Or anybody wanna open up their HT room for movie night.. :) If only I live in a place with more room (too small to host a GTG).

Or some company wanna get a room to demo some gear. Really all we need is an excuse. The last GTG I went to (not sure if there's any more after) is pretty fun.

1. That's how some people (???) never (??) miss ANYTHING.
2.
3. Going to be awhile
4. The only time I've ever actually gone to watch a movie was when we used to be able to go to benthx's place.
Now that was a set-up to envy! (We miss you ben).
And of course I've been to Thudd's old place to listen to music.
All the other GTGs I have been to (3) have been at pubs.
I've had a few one-on-ones at my place but that's not the same thing. Not like the GTG's we here about in Melbourne.
Sigh.
I suspect WAF for GTG's is not high.
Double sigh.

Wow. That was a while. TBH I don't really know him that well, but I do remember he is very helpful and friendly...

Pubs are good. Everybody can relax there. One way or another, it's good to catch up. Only problem there's no AV gear to drool over. OTOH, a pub is not a bad idea actually, that will suppress my urge to upgrade.

Hm. I would have thought there's a pretty active Perth membership here? Maybe everybody's just too shy, or they don't know about the view all post thingie.

No disrespect to the other members, but Im not too keen on an idea that somebody has my home details, and knows the type of "equipment" I own/us, based on my few years of posting on this forum. I know a couple of members personally, who do know where I live, but this is after a degree of mutual trust in the real world has been built up.

True Mark, but I have known Lyle for long enough to trust him, not that any of the forum members need to take my word as Gospel.   You make your own mind up, by all means!!

Hence I never use a sig :) ... But "equipment"  is just that, equipment. As long as you have friends, health and a job, any material things that's stolen/broken can be replaced with an upgrade (Think positive, you only live once).

You can always buy new equipment, but friends and enemies that you can put a face to are harder to come by...

Sounds very "philosophical", but b'coz I have nothing worth stealing, and no kids, so probably less worries.. :D

Pretty sure the next GTG is still months if not years away, so an email can't hurt.. Stick to pubs and public places with food. Sorry I shouldn't mention going to people houses, the guy's wife/kids will probably not like that... It's too intrusive when there are strangers in the house..

Was not asking for home addresses or anything of that detail (nor equipment).
Just thought it might be more useful to correspond via email because I find the PM system cumbersome. And it's nice to have a real name.  Heck Mark I know where you work and I would not even breach that. Although I suspect Mark is really mark just as lyle is really lyle. As to equipment I know what you have because you posted pics on the forum! :D

However, I understand the reticence. My missus does not like me inviting 'strange' people around one on one.
But there are a few exceptions and the guys I have met, I trust. You know who you are.

At this stage I have had so little response apart from people I knew already (with a couple of exceptions), that I am happy to forget the whole idea. PM'g and meeting at the Windsor is fine by me.

Although she has a pretty good sense of humour. We've been together 37 years so I guess she needs it!

I for one am interested in meeting some people. And am happy to have almost anyone over although my room struggles to hold four people. As for security i have insurance. More than one kind. RAC, 12g, .22 and Rottweiler. For the next month or so i also own a pool hall so if you want to have a GTG there let me know quick and i will look after everyone on drinks prices.

LOL... Guns aren't useful when you ain't home... Not too sure how useful dogs are, but probably can be distracted with meat?

Speaking of insurance, I do have home contents insurance myself.. Do I need to regularly update my insurance company on what I have? Or only after it's stolen?

Been meaning to call them up and ask, but kind of too lazy to do it (touch wood).
