The price of those would be very very expensive. There are quite a few HT Cabinet threads both in this subforum and the Home Theatre subforum.

You could find many furniture companies that will build to order, or find a company that does a similar product and see if they can change an existing design to suit your requirements (that was what I did). Try someone like these guys - Sydneyside furniture

Also, personally I wouldn't want a cabinet that was easy to move around on wheels if I had a large TV sitting on top of it. You would have to really be careful when moving it even if you have the TV secured to the cabinet top.

Yes I imagine so...
alas they don't ship to Australia & yet to find someone that would ship their gear, and what total cost would be.

Wouldn't that be even more expensive than a ready-made (mass produced) product like the aforementioned?

Diesel?  Thanks!

*edit*
I had a closer look at what Sydneyside offer:
http://www.sydneysid...?...&nclassid=2
http://www.sydneysid...?...&nclassid=5

Not too bad, but not as versatile as the BDI cabinets it seems.
Or at least the site doesn't present much of the functionality the cabs "might" have.

The company I bought my HT cabinet from just charged me RRP on the cabinet for the changes I wanted done. They wouldn't negotiate on price because of the changes. If I didn't want to change they were more flexible on price, but after about 3 months of searching I was happy with the outcome of a cabinet that was pretty much what I wanted.

Fair enough,
What was the co. you bought from?

Thanks.

Just a local furniture store - not a specialist HT store up at Erina on the Central Coast.

Selby Accoustics DTV coupon no longer working. Anyone know of any new codes?? 20% off always makes the shopping destination a no-brainer.

HI Diesel,
Just wanted to say a big thanks, I mounted (that is put it on the wall) a 50" Panni earlier this year thanks to your advice. Used the good old Selby's all rounder.
Hardest thing was lifting the sucker onto the bracket, Wife had to stand on a chair (shes short) to get it high enough.
Twas a bit of a scary moment till it securely hooked onto the bracket.   :P
So best advice is definitely get some help to get it into place. Should have read that advice twice.
Cheers
Chris

Been great reading, thanks.

One question, if you slim line mount, how do you get away with the aerial input as most of the time its no where near the hdmi area on the back panel where they would go down through the wall.
Is there a right angle adapted for aerial input so you can run along the back of the tv then put down behind the wall with the other cables that are usually on the opposite side at the rear of the unit.  if this makes sense?

EDIT: makes sense

Had a couple of questions:

1. What are the pros and cons of either running the power cord through the wall, or having it recessed behing the TV. This is for a double brick external wall.

2. How would you do it for a single brick internal wall, both the power cord or the cables

Call an electrician and get them to put a powerpoint behind your panel.

External double brick wall should be reasonably easy for them.
Internal single brick wall will be expensive and messy as you'll need to chase out the wall.

Hi there. I live in an older style Queenslander and the wall I want to mount to is only single skin VJ - no studs to screw into. I want to mount a 40" Samsung Series 6 LCD which weighs 20kg.

The VJ's themselves are 1" (2.5cm) thick. If I drill 2cm into the VJ, is that enough material for coach screws to bite into? Some instructions I've read say that you should drill 4cm into the wall stud. I would probably use 4 or 6 coach screws to attach the bracket to the wall.

1 installer said he would drill through the wall and use bolts - the bolt heads would be visible on the other which we don't want.

Any suggestions / pointers?

Cheers...

You'll probably need to build the wall up... use ply as per other solutions in the thread, but attach it with self tapping screws and liquid nails/bostik poly poo in a sausage flooring glue... this will give you over 40mm of material to bite into.

I ended up getting an installer to mount it using bolts through to the other side of the wall. Looks ugly in the other room, but at least I don't have to worry about the TV falling off and landing on my toddlers. Cheers...

Reading all this Wall mounting stuff brings to mind, how best would it be to connect the multi HDMI cables of the BluRay, Foxtel and my Pana BluRay Recorder to the Wall Mounted Samsung Plasma TV which has 4X HDMIs, I have seen 2 X, 3X and 4X HDMI socket wall plates available somewhere but they generally do not include the Antenna socket , I suppose a separate one would be OK, Anyone done this additional stuff?http://www.dtvforum.info/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

I prefer to keep connections to a minimum and run the cables straight from the appliances to the TV, but if you must have HDMI connectors try these guys of any of the other links I provided in the first post

Does anyone know whether there is something like PowerBridge available in Australia?

Seems like a good way to run a wall mounted screen from a decent UPS.

This was mentioned on the first page however is there a solution like this in Australia?

Finally got around to wall mounting my 55" Samsung LED TV.  Definitely a two and a half man job!

http://img444.images...17021691344.jpg

This is the wall mount I got off ebay.  Quality is pretty good for an even better price, with free HDMI cable and postage.
