Samsung Firmware Update on Samsung US website
There is nothing listed on the Samsung Australia website but hopefully it shouldn't be long before the firmware is localised and ready for us ... cross fingers.
Anybody got any BD Live discs to take advantage of this?

mine's already stuffed ... it won't play half my DVDs or CDs, I rang Samsung two weeks ago about the problem and again today to see what was going on but they don't have an ETA on new firmware (or whether it will fix my problems) so I don't have much to lose ...

I keep hitting that "check for updates" and it keeps telling me I have the latest, come on Samsung Australia, get your butt into gear and get us the update!
edit:
Interesting, the Yankee site says that a 1G USB stick must be plugged in to support BDLive. I am going to give this US f/w a go, but I think we have XSA not XAA so that is likely to not even accept it.

Man, Iron Man audio is pretty good too, only 5.1 DolbyHD, but wow, the explosion right at the beginning nearly blew a hole in my wall (did blow one in the side of the Hummer LOL), was fantastic (I haven't used my 3800 in gusto yet, only just getting it about a weekish ago, so this really impressed me with the clarity and dynamic range!).

What colour is the disc? Mine is Grey. Perhaps mine is faulty...

Well, I just tried the Yankee firmware, by renaming the filename with XSA and hex-editing one of the first bits in the file that had "XAA" there, and the Samsung recognised it as a f/w update (wouldn't with the normal XAA filename), but said it would check the firmware integrity, and then said there is a problem with it. There is probably a CRC or something and because I edited one byte in the file (changing an A to an S) it failed the checksum. I don't think I will dare frig with it any more as:
a- I don't want to brick the unit
b- I don't have the Aussie f/w to load, just in case I manage to cludge the yankee f/w in but it, say, rejects all my BR discs or something.

I have only tried to play the main disc, not the "disc 2 special features" disc. The main disc is not indicated at disc1/main mind you.

Also, my special features disc works fine. It's just disc 1 that doesn't read. Must be a faulty disc.
Thanks for your help troubleshooting. The intertubes is awesome at solving problems

Does anyone have anyword on when Samsung Australia will update their website to include this latest firmware update?
Also - I assume by only updating to version 2.0 once it becomes available locally, it will include any previous fixes (e.g 1.3 fixed some playback issues, and dimming on the front panel)??

I spoke to Samsung Tech Support yesterday (8 October) and they had no idea when it would be available, which is pretty typical really.

Also, I was under the idea that the BD1500 could only be upgraded for 1.1 Profile. Am I incorrect in thinking this??

To do this, we need Samsung Australia to hurry up and release the 2.0 firmware (as has already been released on US samsung website).
You will also need to purchase a minimum of 1GB usb stick to have plugged into your bluray player at all times (once you've updated the player). This allows you to take advantage of any BD-Live movies, as they require a minimum of 1GB storage to work...

Samsung Australia released firmware v2.0 sometime before Christmas which enabled BD Live.
No details on what v2.3 does - most likely the normal 'improves playback issues'. It's thought that it also enables DivX support, although after reading other posts doesn't seem like people are having much success.

doubting that you are going to 'find' much of anything on the BDLive stuff. How about googling and seeing what 'others' may have located - and then decided if its worth the whole trouble

I've read around the place that this is an issue, I was wondering if anyone was aware of a solution yet?
Cheers,
