Nope, mA is 1000th of an amp.   So 0.001A is one milliamp.   So 0.16A=160mA.
The only way I can imagine using this is with a little micro-relay, or solid state relay.
Regards

Hmmm, I've got a winplus smart trigger controller, but other than 12-18 volts it doesn't mention what the minimum amperage is.

I could just hook the fan up to a remote switch, but it would be a lot less hassle to use the trigger ... I'll have to do some more homework on it.

It is a constant power not momentary I have mine operating a solidstate relay that I put into my EP2500 without any problems

Hi Guys,
Am new to this chat site. I have had the RXV-3800 now for nearly three years and never had a problem until yesterday.
It just wont turn on. I have checked all connections and they seem fine. But its dead . Any ideas on what the problem may be?
Any suggestions will be much appreciated

Just to make sure - you have tried both the power buttons on the front of the 3800? (not just the standby button).

I have no experience with these sorts of symptoms - next thing I would look at would be a fuse in the unit might have blown?

The powerpoint has power?

I was watching the "IT Crowd" last night.

One of the calls was about turning on the power but the user didn't know what a switch was! :D    :D

Seriously though, if there is power and it's not a fuse then it's probably the power supply.

Which should be fixable for a reasonable fee (I would think)

Before you do!

From the Manual:

This unit fails to turn
on or enters the
standby mode soon
after the power is
turned on.

The power cable is not connected or the
plug is not completely inserted.
Connect the power cable firmly. —

The speaker impedance setting is
incorrect.
Set the speaker impedance to match your speakers. 33
The protection circuitry has been
activated.
Make sure that all speaker wire connections on this
unit and on all speakers are secure and that the wire
for each connection does not touch anything other
than its respective connection.

TRY THIS:

This unit has been exposed to a strong
external electric shock (such as lightning
or strong static electricity).
Set this unit to the standby mode, disconnect the
power cable, plug it back in after 30 seconds and then
use it normally.

Yeah - I was hoping the last one might work .... have you tried getting into the service menu?  I'ts in the manual ... you hold down on of the buttons under the flap at the same time as pushing the main power switch on.

HI Guys,

Can you answer a couple of questions for me?

-I currently have an RXV-800 (about 13 years old :) ), would I notice a big difference in sound quality between that and the 3900?
- Does the 3900 have a voltage selector on the rear panel? These units are going for about $799 U.S. ATM and with the dollar the way it is it might be worth importing one.
- I have the Oppo hooked up to the RXV 800 though the 6.1 analogue input section which I noted the 3900 doesn't have due to the HDMI connectors? Is the sound through the HDMI at least as good as through the 6.1 analogues?
- Is there somewhere local that would have the 3900 at a comparable price?

Thanks

- In 13 (lucky for some!!) years, things have improved....You will notice a difference...and this is an answer I think you would know too....

- No Voltage Selector....so I am taking it that you wont be able to import the US model..it will have a different step up transformer...

- I have connected up my Yammi via HDMI all around....and it sounds fine to me...which is the key...have a listen to the Yammin if possible....before you make up your mind...

- I think there are several places where you can buy one...I bought mine from High Street in Northcote, Melbourne...good guys, good service..good price...I think you will get a better price now, because the newer Yammin models are soon to be released...

I am hoping that Choppy sees this post, as he has more knowledge around Sound etc....so over to you Choppy!!

hehe, yeah...just checking.  My speakers are also about that age and wont be getting updated any time soon (Jamo 507's) but even my old cloth-ears can notice a big difference when I chuck on an SACD to I suspect a new amp would also give me an appreciable lift?

Finding one locally is looking a bit hard ATM, might check KEC in Singapore, though they are going for $850 aud in the U.S. ATM......

Hi guys, in a bit of a rush at the moment, so I'll be brief.

As valve purists will yell - newer may not be better, and yes the newer, low end, yams do seem to be a step backward from all reports due to the integrated amps they are using.  From my understanding though, the difference between your current vintage yam and the 3900 will be a huge step up due mainly to the Bur Brown DACs that it uses ... the jury is still out on the very new 3900 replacment - it may turn out not as good, we will have to see.

Where to buy one?

Best advice I can give is look around in the ads of your local, go talk to them, get quotes then approach one of the bigger guys - the 3900's are in runout at the moment, so there should be some good deals going, if you can find one.

If you haven't had the urge to update from an "800" before now I envy you, you are a manufacturer and retailers' nightmare and shouldn't even think about it unless it sheets itself.
I use my 800 in the garage, 2500 in the kitchen/living and a 3900 in the lounge. If I ever upgrade to a 3D TV the 800 will be out the door because the 3900 won't pass 3D.
If you do intend on upgrading/updating, do the whole system, 13 years is a fair age for speakers. Then you will truely notice the difference.

I'm sure I will. ;)

It's all about the budget however so one thing at a time and we already spent a fair bit last year on a new TV and BR player.

Cheers

Have a look at my Jamo's 7.7 ...bought in 1999....and sounds brilliant still...that would make it ...well, not quite 13 years....

I'm sure the speakers/system are still fine, just a good excuse to move the system to the man cave if ones needed out there. :P

I has no cave. ;(

Looks like I has no amp either the way things are going, can't seem to find one at the right price, there's an ex-demo one in Brissy for $1600 but that's about the best i can do ATM without going OS, which I'm not going to do.  Bit of a shame as they're going on the states for $799 ATM.

Audio Trends in Melbourne according to their website have a few RX-V3900s for $1699. Not as low as they have been recently.

How did you go, one_zoro?

My 3800 decided not to turn on last night, so I disconnected the power supply and left it until this morning. (In the meantime I read your post, and I looked at fixing it or getting a replacement!)

Luckily it turned on and is back to normal. The moral? Don't operate your 3800 after a party!

Geoff

It has been a year since anybody posted on this 3800 thread...but I am giving it a go...hopefully, somebody might read and may be of help...

My 3800 has been wonderful...almost 2 years and a bit...but I have recently begun noticing that I loose sound from the center speaker...and I have to turn up the volume to recover the sound...

Anybody else had this happen?

Just reading this post, I've had my 3800 since it was just release. Still works fine. Sorry that I don't have any information for you.
