I have been having a problem with jerkiness on HD-DVD's and was hoping it might fix that!!  blu-ray's are fine, but HD's give a little jerk every 15-30 seconds.

I was having a problem with a combo HDDVD with jerkiness after the layer change, and I hoped the new firmware might fix that. But I haven't got round to testing it yet. Does anyone know if those combo HDDVDs are slightly thicker than the standard ones?

I was at a toshiba trade night earlier this week in which the XDE was launched and pulled aside one of the people in regards to how long these combo players will be avaliable. Now he wouldn't discuss any contract deals they have with LG for laser supply but he stated that Toshiba has completely stopped producing anything for HD DVD. He said they made a massive stockpile of stuff to cover warranty and other "stuff" by which i assume he means other deals with companies. Id therefore suggest that if you want one of these drives you dont wait to the last to save $20 at most. It will only be a matter of time before LG produced Blu only drives.

On the weekend I acquired a GGW-H20L
I'm pleased to report this Blu-ray burner drive is still going strong after almost 4 years. Last night it baulked at burning a newer type of BD-R.  So I updated it to the latest firmware (Version YL07), released in May 2011. It was then able to burn the BD-R without problems.

Good that LG have kept their product firmware up to date.
