Hey guys/girls

have only had IQ for about 6 weeks and the remote wont work ? changed the batteries just in case and still nothing.
The box works as manually turned it on.

Any hints on something I can try or do these remotes bite the dust quickly ?

and the dumb question, if I go an buy a replacement how do I get it to work for my IQ or are they all on the same wavelength or whatever it is the operate on ?

cheers

try to get Foxtel to arrange service call - tell Foxtel that Remote does not work with the box - that you tried to replace batteries and so on ...  but  box is not responsing to remote control even that red light on the remote control is flasfing ...

Foxtel will arrange service call technician to come and check it - just ask him to replace box and give you new remote control.
Make sure you watch all your recorded programs otherwise you will loose all of them ...

I can't understand why we should buy remote controls if all equipment remains Foxtel property ...

A diifernt uissue but still a remote one.

I have had a mutiroom kit for a couple of months, it only works half the time, I often have to power off foxtel and then back on to get the thing to work. Is this a known issue? I was going to take the thing back for a refund, but WAWatcher has made me think it could be worth keeping.

I thought my remote had died, change the batteries didn't fix it. left the batteries out for about 10 minutes and it worked. This happened more than once at random intervals. I eventually figured out that i had bumped the "AV" button at the top, and pressing the "FOXTEL" button would allow the box to accept remote commands again. It sounds silly, but i too threw the remote at the lounge in frustration!

I had a remote fail in the past. Called Foxtel and asked for a new one to be sent out. They tried to charge me for a new one, until I pointed out this exact fact. It got escalated, and I got the replacement for free. Don't settle for anything less :)

Doy you have TVLink IQ remote eye you bought from DS/GoodGuys/HN/JB HiFi ?
What is actually happening when you are saying it works half the time ?

Are you saying you can't change channels at all ?
Do you have red light on the remote eye ?
you have to make sure you terminated cable properly on both ends. Do you also terminate cable at the wall plates ?

When it works  I have full functionality. When it doesn't work, all I can do is turn foxtel off and back on through the remote.
Red light is always on the remote eye
I think cables are terminated properly, can't be 100% certain. Yes they do terminate at the wall plates.
I have the foxtel mutiroom kit, bought at DS.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Will be careful of the AV button thingy and if happens again will take out the batteries for 10 mins and try that and if all else fails through it onto the sofa
like I did last night and when I came back to it 5 mins later it was working.

I could have accidentally touched the AV , you never know or maybe the remote is playing up . Time will tell but at least now have others views which is
better than reading the whole user guide on the thing anyway :)

Cheers

One other thing to check, do you have any cheap energy saver light bulbs in the house ?
I have had several cases over the years where remote signals ( VCR, DVD, FOXTEL etc ) can be blocked by the emmissions coming from these bulbs.
If you have any in the house then it is real simple to isolate, turn the light on and see if the remote stops working.
The first time I came across this condition it took many hours and several visits to the customers home before I got lucky and found that turning the light on and off cause the fault to come and go, just a thought.
