A friend of mine lives in Orange, NSW asked me when the HDTV broadcasting is going to be available from Mount Canobolas - Orange. She wanted to buy a HDTV, but I asked her to check whether it’s really worth buying one in Regional NSW at this stage. I have heard that Mount Panorama – Bathurst does not have such plan in near future!

I could not find any link to check this, does anybody have any idea? Thanks.

I'd say try ringing Prime, since it is the local station in Orange, but since they are slow off the mark with DTV in this area, I'd get in touch with SC Ten, WIN and the ABC (and maybe SBS, I'd ring as a last resort).

HD is currently being broadcast from Mount Canobolas - Orange from both the ABC (SD upconverted to 1080i) after 7pm, and from SBS (SD upconverted to 576p). The ABC & SBS do this in all areas they have started Broadcasting Digital TV. Prime, WIN & SC Ten are currently only broadcasting SD on Digital from Mount Canobolas.

The general rule (ABA's Rule) is that the Broadcasters have to start broadcasting HD 2 years after they start SD DTV in a area. So using that rule you should see HD from the Commercial Broadcasters from Mount Canobolas sometime around June/July 2005.

Canberra & Wollongong Digital viewers had just started seeing the HD Demo Channel from WIN TV. Nothing from either Prime or SC Ten yet.

Kindest Regards

Mark

Darren,

Sorry for the late reply. I've been in Sydney all week. Anyway..........

You lucky Buggers!!!!!!

I really didn't expect WIN to Start HD in Regional Areas for quiet some time. I really only thought they would do Canberra & the Gong.

Anyway Darren, I'm glad you have a HD Channel in Orange. I'll keep rescanning here in Wagga. Maybe we we get lucky too!

Enjoy!!!!

Kindest Regards

Mark
