*cries into beer while looking for CC*
bugger, that is what I got my EP10 for!!!

I feel your pain mate.

And I'm still waiting for my $100 cashback.

$599 + 11 titles makes that worth about $350 for the player :o

So can we finally stop complaining about being ripped off in Australia ?

Kudos to Toshiba, now let's get the marketing machine working.

Great news for those looking for one, but as I said without in store displays and sales staff ready to sell HD DVD then it won't make much impact IMO. Most people see the Blu_ray playing and the HD DVD tucked between the DVD players as just a DVD player at a higher price.

really? i didn't know that. got any links to head to head comparisons?

No but just about all the reviews I've read have commented on the incremental improvement in picture quality that the A35 delivers when compared to earlier generation players.

I bought an E1 on Friday afternoon - retailer's about to get a phone call!
Wish you luck, but I think unless you have a good relationship with the dealer its just the roll of the dice. If a price drops tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, who is entitled to it? I think the line has to be drawn at the day you purchase.

At these prices I'm going to find it hard to resist! I've been holding out on either a HD or BR player, but its getting harder and harder to wait. Well done Toshiba, and thanks for the breaking news BenjaminG!

Except he says its the retailer "These sales you're seeing on HD-DVD hardware are - from the retailer's perspective - about clearing them off the shelves. Don't look for them to restocked much." However this is clearly Toshiba.

I've been close to pulling the trigger on an A35 from the States
but at the new price point the XE1 with its multi-region
capability is now a better deal.

Thanks

What a tool

Quote

Universal's position is a little more perilous, on the other hand, as they're more than two years behind all the other major studios in terms of Blu-ray development. Word is their HD-DVD video encodes can't simply all be ported over to Blu-ray, as some of them "aren't good enough."

Word is ?

What a delusional little world this guy lives in.

Well, haven't checked the forum in a couple of days and found this news.
Definitely tempted to get XE1 now.

Will look around this weekend.
