Personally, I wouldn't. But maybe that's just me...
If you desparately want the TV now and want to be assured of a free PS3 then I say go for it. Me - I'll be paying from my 46X in full tonight on the condition that I can get a full refund if the delivery of the TV is any later than Feb 23rd. This date gives me two weeks to be sure my redemption form gets processed. Any later than that I start to get nervous about.
Just remember, these TV's will come down in price once the PS3 deal is over and supply is restored.

if you purchased your tv before the new year it *should* arrive before feb
i think its only for the people who purchased their tv's in jan that will have to wait until mid feb
i hope thats the case anyways..

which at $4499 for a 46X is way way too much.
I suppose i can look at it and wait and save some money to get a cheap HD-DVD Player to complement the ps3 (so i can get Heroes and Bourne - exclusive HD-DVD titles)

This is how I look at it, you'll be paying the PS3 $360 instead of $699. If you like Blu Ray films and want to be assured that you don't miss out on the deal it may be a worthwhile proposition.
Imagine those people that paid retail price from Sony website and because of that they'll be getting theirs first.

If only!
I put my deposit down on the Dec 28th and was told mid Jan. That has now been extended to end of Feb and I was the one who had to chase it up. They didn't call me to let me know there would be a slight delay of over 1 month!

You are right on the price matching though, best I could do today was $5,600 for a KSL52X3100 with 5 yr warranty and delivery plus no stock for at least 2 weeks
Might it be worth waiting until after January and seeing if there is a price drop before the 2008 models come through. Use the "savings" to buy a PS3?

That is not good news for us here in Perth. I just hope Harvey Norman come through for me....

That just isn't true.
I purchased my 40W 2 days ago for $2150, $850 under RRP, and $650 under the ticketed price.
And it was in stock, could have walked out of the store with it, but it's being delivered tomorrow.

Oh im sure secretly they would have got a X or XBR instead if opportunities where diffferent.
Why wouldnt you?
They rest of Australia certainly liked the XBR and the X series the most and Sony has miscalculated and stocks are low to non-existant.

Actually the 40" W is the hardest to come by. Sony are quoting april on their website for availability. I had a 40" W on order since the 29th Dec and they couldn't gaurentee delivery before the middle of Feb. They had just got 2x 46"W's in that day so I negotiated an upgrade and I got my TV yesterday (ps3 request in the mail).
I spent a lot of time looking at both the W and X series playing with the settings in both motion flow on motion flow off and for me the X panel and motion flow didn't add up to the difference in price.
for all those who are stuck waiting for TV's, my wife did a ring around our area (brisbane) and found 40"W 46"W 40"X and 46"X floor models for sale at out of the way outlets of harvey norman, JB, retravision and clive peters . The 46"W is the easiest to come by at the moment and is in Stock at sony wharehouse. Harvey norman at morayfield even had a 40"W just arrived from the warehouse for sale for $2550.
I am very happy with my TV. I watched DVD, DIVX, SD Digital (through my PVR), Played my WII and watched HD thorugh the integrated tuner and they all look beautiful. I was very impressed with the way it removed artifacts and jagged edges in DIVX. I watched the cricket and tennis and had no ghosting or jerkyness, the panoramic sweep at the start of lord of the rings two towers was smooth as I have seen on any TV. I am very impressed with the value for money that the W series panels offers. I am sure that the X and XBR could do an even better job but I am one happy man.

Bollocks.
I'd be mighty miffed if I waited 3 months for delivery and then found out I only had 9 months of warranty left
The warranty starts when you take delivery of the goods.

What model Bravia did you get?
Do you think that it arrived from a Sony shipment or could they have just sourced it from another store?
Cheers.
