I purchased a KDL46X3100 from JB Hi Fi Chermside on Sunday 13 January. I was originally told that delivery would be late January as all JB stores have no stock. I got a phone call from JB yesterday saying that they now expect delivery to be at the end of February!  :( Hope it comes sooner.

We have all been screwed... I'm a patient guy but this is crap!

On the phone tomorrow to Sony as I'm concerned about the PS3 again... damn I would pull out if this wasn't such a great deal and for an awesome tv.

Let us know how you go, I have been trying on and off to get through over the past 3 days, no joy.  I left one message (got through to voicemail some how) asking if I send through the receipt showing the TV has been fully paid for with my unique code / registration form would that be enough for them to process the claim or do they NEED the serial number from the box???  Haven't heard back.

The recorded message seems to reinforce that they will require the serial number, which means in the case of the 46X, which are due in most stores I have queried in mid feb, that there will be a huge inflow of claims over the latter part of Feb and early March.

1) What happens if there is a further delay in the stock delivery?
2) What happens if Sony don't get to process your letter by the 10 March deadline?

I am starting to get nervous about this...

I've been on the phone to the Promo line and they have completely passed the buck over to Sony, which they transferred me over to...

In discussions with Sony themselves and they are sticking by the old... If the Serial/Details are not received by 10th March, you will not be eligible for a Free PS3.

So I've kicked back and advised that this situation is completely Sony's fault due to stock issues which are completely out of my control based on the fact they can't get their stock sorted by the required date.  I've made it clear that I purchased around xmas and this deal was the reason I purchased and going by their stance on the situation I could wait 2 months for my TV to arrive which is ridiculous anyway and could still miss out on a PS3.

They basically can give no assurance on the PS3 and the drum being banged loud and clear is BAD LUCK - of course in the politically correct way of saying it.

Another guy I spoke with at Sony advised that direct to consumer sales will be ready for shipment to customers mid-January, however retailers are looking at End of Feb which of course could easily now blow out to early March, mid March, late August... who knows.

Pretty sad really, when Sony have killed it with this promotion, placing thousands of PS3's/Blu Ray players in the market which will generate big bucks over a short period of time.
Let's face it - these PS3's have been placed in the hands of video/audio freaks like us who will be driving the next generation games & high def movies which is all revenue for Sony on the wider scale and then they treat potential customers like this.  Corporate decisions are great aren't they, sure they've extended the promo date 1 month from February to March, big deal really and they can still pull the pin on the promo by ensuring the TV's don't get to consumers in time if they feel they have sold enough.

Poor form Sony and right now I'm about to pull the pin on this wait game and get something else, pity that most of the other company deals/promos have finished...  ain't it nice being the little guys!!!

That is not the news I was hoping for, but i can't say I'm surprised.  The free PS3 was also the clincher for me.  I'm very tempted to pull out of this now rather than committ $3500 to a TV that Retailers will not be able to guarantee will arrive on time (I.e. end of Feb) as this is largely in the hands of Sony.

I'll be putting the hard word on Harvey Norman to see what their stance on it is when I go in to pay in full tomorrow, but I'm still hesitant.   Maybe put the cash back in the back for a while and wait for the next round of price drops?  This 46X will no doubt be around the $2k mark by July / August?   <_<

Getting a little worried about this.

Bought a 46" X Series on 7/1 at JB Essendon. Was told either next week or the end of Jan.

Just called them to be told they are expecting early Feb delivery.

really? I also bought from a JB Hi Fi store...I was told next 10 days. whether or not it will be the next 10 days is another story....but I was given a guarantee of 2-3 weeks....or I can get a full refund (because of the ps3 promo, I paid in full on the day).

Keep our fingers crossed.

I paid for the 40" X series in full on 30/12 at JB Bondi Junction. At the time i was told 15th Jan, I called them this morning and was told possibly late Jan or early Feb but not to count on it. If it gets to late Jan and there is nothing firm I'll be demanding a refund.

I feel sorry for you guys, that is really poor form from Sony.

Glad my 40W was in stock when I purchased, would have been wary of waiting for delivery for the exact reason we are seeing now.

What a joke some people on this forum are seriously.

Things get delayed and sometimes it’s beyond the manufacturers/distributor’s control yet by reading comments here you’d think Sony Australia were deliberately trying to infuriate people.

Get a life.

If you get your Bravia and FREE PS3 good on you.

If not, I’m sure the world will keep spinning.

Welcome to the forum

Did you consider that the "free" PS3 might have been the deciding factor in many people's decision to purchase one of these displays ?

I know it was in mine.

To then refuse to honour the offer due to their crappy stock levels is not on.

i was told the same, bought mine on the 29th dec and was told under 2 weeks for the wait. but when i called jb up yesterday they said HOPEFULLY by next week..
i think that people who have bought TV's in jan will have to wait until mid feb, where as people who bought their TV's before the new year will only have to wait until mid jan
anyway i hope thats the case, waiting 2 months for something i purchased in full is just ridiculous

Mate, you are entitled to your opinion but there really is no need for statements like that.  I'm sure teh world will keep spinning as well, never said that was in doubt.

We are frustrated at the situation and simply voicing our concerns.  As mentioned, the free PS3 was the deciding factor for me.  Due to the limited supply available at the moment I have concerns if I will be able to meet the criteria - through what I deem to be no fault of my own.  I put the deposit on my TV on Dec 28th, well and truely within the offer period.  I was told I'd have my TV mid january, now have been told end of Feb.  I don't think I have been intentionally mislead, however I am concerned I will miss out on this deal, worth essentially $699.  Well worth worrying about in my books.

My opinion is that this redemption should be based mainly on when you purchase the TV, not whether Sony can process your submission in time.  They have already extended the deal once - I am quietly hoping they extend it further again.

All the best, Brad.

Well Said!!!

I am waiting on a 46x to arrive as I have paid for one in full on the 27/12.

The free PS3 is what clinched the deal for me like many others. Sony has an obligation to all those people that have purchased a TV within the promotion dates to supply them with a PS3. It is not the consumers fault that they have not had enough stock to  keep up with the demand.

Surely Sony would know exactly when the next shipment of TVs are going to be available. It seems everyone is getting different answers as to when the shipments are due.

If I have to keep waiting to late Feb. I might consider a refund because the new series probably will not be that much further away and no doubt will be cheaper and better again.

And I'm simply voicing my opinion.

This is what I've been reading in this thread....

Sony has an obligation to all those people that have purchased a TV within the promotion dates to supply them with a PS3. It is not the consumers fault that they have not had enough stock to keep up with the demand.

First of all, the promotion terms and conditions are very clear. You have to receive the TV in order to get the serial number in order to claim the PS3.

Now if retailers are willing to sell TVs to people that they don't have in stock, and the consumer is willing to hand over full payment for something the retailer does not have in stock, how is this Sony's fault?

Let's not just forget Christmas has just passed meaning stock levels are already low and replenishing them is slower than other times of the year due to the "Xmas shutdown period".

If I can't get delivery on something straight away or the next day there's no way I'd hand over full payment! If that makes me a tool you can call me "Spanner".  :)

to get the price I got it for, the guy said I have to pay full price upfront...because they order them from whoever and have to pay for all of them...and so if they are ordering 60 (which is what they said), they want the full commitment from people.

I agree, I hate paying full price and not receiving the goods right away, I feel like he pulled one over me.........but I did get a good price, and a guarantee that if they don't come in within 2-3 weeks of my order he will offer me a full refund if I want.

How much did you ended up paying from Sony Central - Full RRP?

would it be worth paying Full RRP to get it sooner?  ie $4449 for a 46X3100

or save $1000 and wait a month!

paid 3380 for the tv + 50 delivery on the same day i purchased + 180 for extra 4 years warranty. just went in there and said i had got a quote from harvey norman for 3400 (which i had been quoted at castle hill) and they beat it by 20. really rate the guys at chatswood sony - know their stuff and are pretty friendly from my experiences.
