Quickflix

First I was with quickflix, was good for a while until their turnaround times got ridiculous. Then I started with BP and was very pleased with their service however,as I only rent blu ray,I found that what few movies I had interest in were all "long or short wait".I've had movies on the top of my queue for months and in the end got fed up and went to local video ezy and got my blu fix.Cancelled BP and now rent what I can.
Unforyunately the pickings are slim at the video store so this has lead me to buy movies from amazon when they first are released and then watch them straight away and them sell them off. By doing this I have found that after selling,it's costing me about 5$ per movie. Not bad considering I dont have to wait for local release and inferior copies.

Originally IIRC QF had about 40k titles and BP only had about 20k but since then I note that BP now claim 38k titles. I hadn't browsed their collection for a couple of years and I must say I'm impressed nowadays. If as other posters have said, their turnaround is better, then I'll go with them for a trial and drop QF.
Sad as we used to really look forward to getting the QF red and white envelopes a couple of times a week, and felt that we were getting good value and great service. Now I get a sinking feeling whenever I think about them.

I was interested in this service until I read this thread.
It sure sounds like they have been a victim of their own popularity in that they don't have the stock to service their members and don't have the funds/unwilling to invest in their business/unable to invest in the business so they can meet the demand for many of their top titles.
How are they doing? Is there any news about increasing the number of copies of titles which are in demand etc?

Turnaround times are reasonable, although some of the shipments from Perth can take a few days to get here.
Biggest complaint is the number of times they send you a title way down the queue. For example, this week I received my #1 and #19 (both blu-ray). I'm happy to receive my #1 but am a bit peeved that they had to skip #2-18 to source me a second disk. It can be a real nuisance if you're waiting for the n'th episode of a series.
Lately I've been pondering about moving to or trying out big pond, but based on a few comments here I doubt whether they are much better. Their plans look cheaper though.

I want quickflix to succeed but can they keep their stock levels up versus the might of Telstra so they reduce the "long wait" times for popular titles?

I switched to Big Pond last year after 2 or more years with Quickflix, and I now wondered why I didn't do it sooner. Quickflix managed to miss a DVD everytime there is a public holiday week, and when I complained their only response was "add more titles in your queue." Towards the end they even ignored my queries so that was the last straw.
Now I always get my DVDs on time (99% of the titles are sent from Sydney, not interstates), always get at least #1 or #2 pick every time, and I have 3 titles at a time instead of 2!

BP Movies still allow this.

Its a shame, they have a decent website blog and facebook page. I like their concept and delivery in everything except stock levels.
It must be hard to compete against Telstra.

They are owned by Woolies so they have plenty of $$ behind them. I bought a full HD tv a couple of weeks ago and getting a Blu-ray player Thursday pay day. Woop woop. However I see that most BD titles at Quickflix are "Long Wait" so I'll pop over and have a look at Telstra's title range and might jump ship after three years with QF.

I don't know if this has been raised on this thread yet, but maybe with our population, at the end of the day there is only room for one postal DVD company, just as there is only room for one pay TV service and what we are seeing with Quickflix is equivalent to the long slow death throes that Optus pay TV went through.

Can BP cope with an influx of Quickflix customers?

REGARDLESS of how many free trials they offer of gift vouchers they send out, their "customer service" is terrible.
After my free trial, I was required to phone to cancel the subscription. Due to "high volume" of calls, my call never connected and the number was busy for the rest of the day. Again, experienced a high volume of calls the next day...and then what do you know? The money has since been deducted from my account and only then was I able to get through to cancel my account.
To be honest, their service is quite slow. Free trials are limited to what DVD's you can borrow and to cancel your trial is a HEADACHE. Definitely not worth the headache for the 1 or 2 DVD's you get to watch. You're better of borrowing from friends.

Was pretty surprised on the negative feedback in this thread ... perhaps they have gone through major improvements over the last 6 months?
Anyone else got any more recent experiences with them?

So what are Quickflix going to do about that I wonder?
Might look at going back again if the service has actually improved.
