Went into my local ABC Shop agency to see if there was anything interesting and came up with the documentary box set: "Arctic Mission" which is a 5 DVD set for about $25 with a very American look about it , NTSC WS but filmed with high definition cameras.

Got it home and to my delight it's an excellent show, produced by film Canada, a TV series of theirs and bang up to date and examining all aspects of life in the Arctic today, particularly climate change. I normally go for David Attenborough type shows, and this is of equal quality, and on standard definition DVD the PQ would have to be up there with Planet Earth (yes, SD but filmed on dedicated HD cameras so it's derived from excellent source footage and looks fantastic on an upscaling DVD player)

My partner (don't often mention this but she is an Aboriginal Elder from Cape York) was in tears during the disc "People of the Arctic", dealing with what the Inuit are going through with the double whammy of climate change and the destruction of their culture.

A must-see if you are an ABC or SBS afficianado. A terrible shame that ABC didn't acquire this and show it on 720p.
