thats a great price for the thing though. and he does allow 7 day return if found faulty

wonder if he inteds selling this on ebay. would be a good option ot the elektra theatre 7 and nad master series at that price.

not sure why they make a 6 channel amp though. youd think most people for multi channel would only need 5ch for a 5.1 set or 7ch for 7.1 set.
The modules inside were stereo modules(that can also be bridges to be mono), so the amps they made were a 2 channel (evo2), a 4 channel (evo4) and the evo6.  The power supply inside was identical between all 3, although if i remember correctly they used different windings or taps off the transformer.   They use a tripath chip at the heart of each module.

I expect these were really before the 7.1 channel time, they stopped production over 12 months ago.

Hahaha, yeah Al I just started here 5 weeks ago coming from a retail background anyways, but now I am in sales as opposed to retail.  Yeah Toshiba got moved along and now we have taken on Daewoo Electronics over the past couple of months.  Still doing Macs and looking at a couple of other options at this stage, yet to be determined.

Been doing a hell of a lot of research on monoblocks and the like and the reports/reviews about the Bel Canto e.Ref1000's have been very impressive to say the least.  Would ideally like to run those thru a pair of Sonus Faber Cremona's and a Bel Canto DAC/Pre, and as a transport possibly a squeezebox or transporter from Slim Devices (still researching), as I dont have a huge collection of CD's.

As far as the Mac prices are concerned, yep still have to do some number crunching.....

alright, already....

Must have missed this yesterday.

I am a Bel Canto dealer so of course I am going to say I love them.  But apart from the sound, the build quality and the support that Bel Canto have is top shelf.  In 3 years now I have not had a single failure of a Belcanto amp.

I am sending a PM, shortly.

Cheers
Michael

Howdy Norpus, sorry I havent been in touch with you.  Been quite busy over the past couple of weeks.  I am now working for Castel Electronics in Preston and yes we have a showroom there.  PM me for further particulars and u r more then welcome to pop over sometime.  That way I can finally put a face to your nickname.....smiles.  Castel has been the sole importer for Macs for some years now.  Not sure if anyone else brings them in but pretty sure Castel is it.

Congrats on the new job
I'm not in need of new amps (due to going active) but those Macs would go nicely with my B&Ws  ;)

Much to my disappointment, never have I sold any Reference 600's to a customer that has had a gal to answer to. Too spineless and pussy whipped I'm afraid is all too often the case. But there are a few Hardcore Tubeheadz out there that will let no man, woman or child stand in the way of their ultimate listening pleasure.

Too spineless and pussy whipped? More like too unreasonably willing to accept flaws in the human character. I hope the purchasers of something like this live in a house without mirrors...

a small fortune I'd dare say. on he good side audio research keep in stock a fully matched set of valves for anythign theyve ever sold so replacement valves probably not an issue. youd probably be a bit pissed to buy an amp like this though i imagine to have a valve go bung on you ! hehe
