Greetings all,

Parasound has a new 2Ch pre available in Australia from next week

http://www.parasound.com/nc/2100.php

RRP is $1195 according to the distributor. Looking at the manual and blurb, it appears to have HT bypass.

Seems a cheap alternative. Just need a little listen :D

Cheers,

Chui

HT bypass seems to do both front channel and sub if subs are connected to the 2 channel pre

only 1 set of sub outs Gutty with a low pass crossover also...

will be inetresting to see how this thing performs

Ok, this confuses me    On my AVR, i use one RCA output for my one sub. This pre has 2 mono sub outputs(labelled 1 and 2 as pictured here)
I would have thought this meant you could run 2 subs. Or is it normal on higher end gear to run 2 cables to a sub ?

As Pualine Hanson would say... Please explain ?

Note: not being a smart ass.... seriously confused.

There are left and right sub outputs on this puppy as well as 12v triggers and ir in out not to mention an adjustable filter as well as sub switching on the HT Bypass. That is a very impressive set of functions for something this cheap!

Check out the back photo

when you said 2 sets i assumes 2 pairs of rca sub outputs
in the 2 channel world most pre's have all outputs as pairs, unlike the avr's which have a .1 output for the sub

so yes the way you are thinking, it is 2 sets so you can run 2 subs, a left and a right

havent seen it myself az, maybe try a parasound dealer, never know might have it and let you have a try

noticed this thread over at club parasound on htguide, might be worth asking there as well.

Yes, please, I want to know too. Ever since I've bought this damn Elektra my upgraditis symptoms have become worse. I think I've reached the limit of what an AVR can do for me as a pre amp and this seems like the perfect starting point for me and a new 2 channel focus! I've really got to stay away from these forums!

Many of us are suffering from debilitated bank balances due to this forum, doesn't seem to be any cure :D .... although If I spend anymore I think the Mrs might find a cure for me

Very curious about this unit.So has anyone around here actually had any hands on experience with Parasound.

Sorry my scepticism says it's two cheap to do a quality job.
I hope I'm wrong

I hope someone gets their hands on one soon to give us the lowdown.

Joz , Gutty was just saying in one of the other threads that his dealer is getting one in for him to listen to.I have to say my feelings  with regard to sound quality are similar to yours particualry given the fact that I haven't found many low end American stereo pre amps to be that inspiring over the years.
On the other hand if it does turn out to be a bargain I may well be interested myself.

parasound has been bit more on the ht side of things that I'm aware of. not sure myself on its 2ch cred. good on them bringing somethign out this cheaply and given what ti can do. Any parasoudn gear I have come by(generally Ht gear) has always been extremely well put together so imagine this might be the same.

do post guys if do come across for others benefit.

only other 2ch pre with ht bypass I'm aware of selling at this price, is the nuforce. theyre genrally known for their digital mono blocs think jdh ? was looking at the pre. perhaps another alternative. again no experience about the gear there but perhaps anoterh to explore.

As mentioned previous, my local is getting one in ASAP. I'll be comparing it to one of the CA 2ch integrateds(640/740) aswell as my Yamaha AVR, and if at all possible the Nad C162 pre. All will be run through my Rotel RB1080.
I've demo'd the NAD before and was happy with it, but with kids around decided i'd really like something with a bypass feature.
Looking at a new house soon, so am not prepared to spend much, doesn't have to do anything amazing, just looking for an improvment over my current setup.
