Hi Guys,

New member here...

Can anyone tell me where the best place to buy Monitor Audio is? Specifically, I'm after the RX6.

I've had a read through some posts, and KEC seems to be recommened, but I don't think they well Monitor Audio. I will be needing the seller to organise shipping to Australia.

I'd just be wary with regard Kec. Where been very good in the past, I know few have said they're no longer very responsive. Zero response via email. And poor response via phone. Since violet headed off on maternity leave. No one else really cares with regard aussie sales or after sales for that matter. Think they're really just focussing on their local sales and customers which seems to be the case for most retailers in Singapore.

You can try and call their shop and look for Edward. See their website for more info.
There are some staff changes in KEC, I will remind Clarence the owner when I next drop into their shop in a couple of weeks..

Ahhh... so it's not just my imagination then!  I have had no answers to a few email's I have sent since Violet left. Hope she's coming back but I guess not at the moment. Was looking to purchase a couple items shortly too.

Same here.  Emailed KEC but have not heard back for months which is not a good sign.  Shame there is no one else in Singapore that will ship here.

G'day Everyone,
I am heading over to HongKong in two weeks time. I wanted to look at buying a Denon 4520 or an Integra/Onkyo 70.4/3010. Does anybody know of some places to buy? I would prefer to be able to email them beforehand.
The only other catch for me is that during the weeks holiday I will be going over to China for three days before coming back to Singapore. I am not sure if I will have enough time when back in HongKong to pick up the AVR. Does anybody think there will be any issues when I catch the ferry across to China if I have the AVR with me?
Thanks.

Why don't you just ship it back to yourself before you go to China?

Since you will be "back in Singapore", why not get it there?
See the first few posts for HKG shops and streets for Hi Fi gear.
They may not have stock right now, even USA is low on stock for the 4520.

The markup for Mcintosh is pretty considerable too, anyone tried to get a price on them in NSW?
I tried Singapore - same voltage at least, and the SRP is almost 50% more than the USA SRP...

Anyway, just to FYI, Ong Radio the dealers in SG, will give you a 20% off if you bargained hard.. it's their 75th anniversary, so they are a little happier to give a discount on their Macs..

Headed Stateside and passing HKG in May... any suggestions for nice new toys to get?
I won't want any 110v items... so off the top of my head:

- USB DAC
- Cans
- lotsa BR discs...

(plus my usual hiking gear etc...)

Region free too.

Great place for BR discs, especially the Asian variety..

Posted Image

First you walk out of Mongkok MTR station exit E2, cross 2 block and you will see Properity Building on your right, a staircase leading down to basement. (Blue arrow)

There are now more headphones shops and hair dresser than Hi Fi shops now, but there is a super Blu Ray shop in the middle. Walk to the end and climb out of the basement onto the street level, turn right (red arrow again) and there are 2 more CD shops very close to each other, Beat Records and Win -Win Records.

All originals..
Judge Dredd BR for Aus$ 8 anyone?
Cabin in the woods $8 and many more...

Might be the 752... the shop keeper wasn't too friendly..

EDIT:
It was the 751 on sale...

BTW, Mcintosh amps were rather affordable and they offer shipping, but I reckon the shipping is what will kill...

The Magnolia Store in San Jose area is pretty good, they even have Mcintosh and the higher 8xx series diamonds..

BR selection and pricing at Best Buys is usually less impressive than Amazon unless it is on sale...
