Seems like Miss Potter Aus (marked region B but free) is 1080i 50hz like the Oasis one, so it will only play on PAL TV's.

I have a Region A Player and I just tried the local ( bought at JBs ) Blu-Ray release of "Andre Rieu at Schonbrunn, Vienna".
The unwatchable image shudders violently and the sound is way out of sync. I cannot find any region identification on the packaging. ( a bit poor if indeed it isn't region free ) Anybody know if the Disc playback problems are region associated or some other likely cause? I thought most of these classic music discs were region free. ( this disc has marked European origins ) |

Thank you for the reply Kennerado,
I did a second firmware update on my Samsung BD-P1200 sometime in 2008. No sign of any later update on the Samsung US Site. ( maybe the 1200 is now off their agenda ) This the first time I have encountered these violent image jitters on any disc. ( if it wasn't for the fact that it is Blu-Ray, then I would almost think it looked like some sort of PAL/NTSC conversion problem ) What is the normal behavior of a region encoded disc on a player from another region? I would have thought that it just wouldn't play at all. Maybe someone knows for sure if "Andre Rieu at Schonbrunn" is region free or not, or if I have a faulty disc, or another damn p1200 problem. My copy, also purchased from JB Hi-fi, plays fine on my modded BDP-35
in both Region A and B. Don't know why you are having problems with your copy? For a wrong region blu-ray you get an on screen message telling you it is the wrong region. Mark |

Thanks for that crtlover.
At least we now know that the title is NOT REGION ENCODED. Meanwhile, I'll continue to investigate other likely possibilities. |

The troublesome Andre Rieu local BD plays perfectly on my newly purchased Region B player.
All those with region A players had better give the Andre Rieu disc a miss. It would seem that HumanMedia is probably correct in regards to the encoding. |
