one skip and you didn't even try to watch it at all?  Dude, this is a gen 1 machine.  That sort of thing is going to happen from time to time - the perils of early adoption.  If one skip makes you give up you should probably sell and wait for more stable hardware.

This probably sounds harsh but it is not intended that way.

Just have a little more patience and give your precious lots of attention, it's feelings are proably hurt.

"sorry daddy" :P

Dude

I gave up on the movie, not  the technology, 1 was dreary and predictable, 3 bland (and I didn't think that the transfer was the tier 1 everyone's claiming it to be) so I didn't need to go back to 2  - time to sell the box and move on to something more interesting :P

I think that I got a bit excited by the DeepDiscount sale and bought anything even remotely interesting - eg I replaced a SD version of Training Day, which I haven't watched, with a HDDVD ,version which I still haven't watched  :D

Still, I'm happy with 90% of the titles I've bought - I just don't want to repeat my SD DVD fiasco where 50% of my discs are still unwatched    - HDDVD is more like SACD & DVD-A so far where you can collect every title that interests

Cheers

Martin

I would be more inclined to buy your MI boxset if I knew you had tried extensively with MI:2 to check it works, in fact, if you check the disc is clean, try it again and it works, Id be pretty confident in buying the set from you.

Am planning on watching my Aeon Flux this weekend, so am happy to trade for V as mentioned earlier in the week if u still have it and are still interested.

I'll take the MI Boxset if you are worried.

Don't have many HD-DVDs

After my BAD experiences getting a HD-A1 from DeepDiscountDVD I am concerned about getting HD-DVDs overseas.

momaw, I realise this is a totally inappropriate way to contact you (my PMs aren't working?) but is your (and therefore, my) LG DT-42PY10X HDCP compliant over the DVI input?
Sorry for blurting off-topic

This is an interesting question.  I thought it was not HDCP compliant, then I got this reply from techdigs.net when I asked them about some HDMI/DVI issues:

"....even though it's DVI, it does have HDCP....."

Either way, I find some older HDMI devices don't work with it and some do.  I currently have my Yamaha 2700 AVR, an HD-E1 HD-DVD player and an Oppo DV-981HD (which is HDMI only and upscales to 1080p - not that our TV can do 1080p) all working successfully with no problems from HDCP.  The HD-XA1 and Denon 1920 have also worked with the DVI in (the 1920 only directly to the TV).

Whether it is HDCP compliant or not (which I am 99% positive it is not), there are devices that work on it regardless.  Are you having a problem?  If so what is it?

Ah! Interesting answer!

I am not having any problems yet, but am trying to avoid some before a purchase. I was actually looking at grabbing either the Oppo 981HD or 970HD, so I'm specifically glad that yours works. Always nice to get confirmation that something that you buy from o/s will work!

My Yamaha RX-V659 isn't HDMI enabled, so no issue there.

Thanks a heap.
