I don't think so, but I have seen Aurora cards for sale on Ebay so you could get one there I suppose.

Perfectly legal and no problem for SBS and ABC tv/radio all regions (except ABC Victoria). Spend $100 on an Aurora card (+sat gear) activate it for your address and away u go.

But no commercial channels unless you are in a TV 'black spot'.

And you won't get one on eBay either.

And even if you get the commercials activated, if your on the East Coast no GWN or WIN and if on the West Coast no Imparja or Central Seven.

There are ways for those who personally own old Aurora cards.

To receive GWN, WIN, IMPARJA, CH34 (community TV only on weekends) ...inform them that you travel extensively in the outback (NT & WA) in a mobile caravan.

Ask your friend how he or she got  WIN and GWN.....And ask if you can get the same..

GWN and WIN via Aurora are administered/activated by Optus themselves. You can apply to have these activated if you're travelling through or live in parts of WA that lack a terrestrial antenna, or live in parts of WA that has poor terrestrial reception. The latter involves a specialist visit by an antenna installer to confirm the poor reception. As for complete lack of reception, Optus will activate it, no questions asked. For travellers; applying via the Optus Aurora News website is the only way to do it.

Imparja and Southern Cross Central (formerly 7 Central) independantly activate their services. They follow the same rules as the WA commercial channels, and also offer travellers the option;

* Southern Cross Central Activation Form (must state you're travelling in the 'Notes' field)
* Imparja Authorisation Form for Travellers (PDF)

The only way it is possible to be watching GWN, WIN, Imparja or SC Central outside of their licensed areas is if the smartcard is still activated for a traveller. After all that, if you can't activate the commercial channels, then you're left with these;

TVSN, Expo, Indigenous Community TV (ICTV), Aurora Info/Tune Channel, Foxtel Help, iEPG Video Satellite, ABC WA, ABC NT, ABC SA, ABC SE, ABC Q, SBS WA, SBS SE, SBS NT, SBS QLD, SBS SA, plus a couple of movie channels.

...... and most importantly Aljazeera English now FTA on C1.

Optus utilises remote licence areas locality maps; the boundaries of which are defined by post codes.

So despite no reception, wrong postcode and your in for a potentially expensive ABA 58.

Another way to watch Imparja (and ICTV if it appeals to you) and SC Central is to receive the feeds via Optus D1. There's also three x SBS feeds and six x ABC feeds.

To receive Imparja and ICTV requires a receiver that allows manual PID entry or editing, but the others should be fine unless it's a sucky UEC.

GWN audio is available on PAS-2, but that's not going to be much fun.

I can't seem to get this channel. I've entered the Vid and Audio PIDs etc, but it just finds a channel named "User"

Ahh, I wondered how they defined the boundaries.

I've never had a Humax, but I understand that some models can, and some can't. If yours can, it's not because it wants the PIDs in hex, is it? (ie; 0x0400 / 0x0401 / 0x0400). Struck this recently with someone on the Vetrun forums when he posted a screenshot, but his is a different model.

Or if it is hex and you'd prefer decimal (ie; 1024 / 1025 / 1024 ), try hitting the left volume button, and see if goes from hex back to decimal.

Whoops, I just remembered that you were asking about Aljazeera on C1, and the PIDs I mentioned are for Imparja (now on D1).... but you figured it out anyway.  :D

Haha. AJE have really outdone themselves. It's like a mixture of BBC World and Sky News. My only gripe is no EPG :blink:

Check Lyngsat http://www.lyngsat.com/optusc1.html or Aljazeera http://www.satdirect...jazeeraeng.html (down the bottom)

Al-Jazeera International Promo
Satellite : Optus C1
Orbit Location : 156.0 East
Frequency : 12367
Polarity : Vertical
Symbol Rate : 27800
FEC: 3/4

However there's a problem with the Dreamax (and many other boxes)! Whilst there's a pid entry menu, it won't find Aljazeera as the pids are 'hidden'. Which is a little odd; considering that Aljazeera want us to watch (I presume).

You will have to 'edit' an existing channel and TP with the Aljazeera details to get it (you can re-scan the trashed TP again to regain the channels if you need them).
