I am new to this forum stuff, but was wondering if anyone could help me out.
I have a DV Camera, and recently burnt from DV tape to the LGRH1777hard drive.
I then copied from the LG hard drive to a DVD.
When give this DVD to my brother to play in his DVD recorder, it doesn't play it.
I have also had this problem with a tv show that I taped for him.
Please note that the burnt DVD work fine in my LG RH1777.
This question might be a bit generic, but would appreciate any feedback

Have you finalised the disks?
What make/model of recorder is your brother trying to play your recorded disks in?
Google LG RH1777 and you'll find users have had various degrees of success (and failure) with this recorder.

I concur with mtv's advice. To be able to play your dvd on another player it needs to be finalised by the RH1777.

Where your recorder comes from?
What is yout fw version?
Is the one you sent the default OPs dump or a changed one?
Try these:
OP5: 5E --> DE for disc recording mode ntsc/pal
OP6: CF --> 8F for region free

Ummmmmm..... I've read many bad things about both DS75/DS77 and DBRH197 (I think your model correspond to this one). Try to google RH197, you'll reach a spanish forum with a long discussion about it.
Think a lot about this recroder, if you are in time to take it back.

The problems, if I well understood, concern the DTT tuner, the recording from it and the image quality.
If your model is the DBRH197 (with another commerical name) the fw should work.
About OPs, no one succed in enabling Mpeg4 recording in such model... some Ops setting are the same as for RH19999, but I have no sure information about them.
Take note we are near to release (may be tomorrow) the first unofficial fw for RH177 like model, but it is not compatible with DBRH197.

I have a couple questions:
1. If I upgrade the firmware on my lg rh1999h with your unofficial release what changes will there be compared to original firmware?
2. Is it possible for me to back up original firmware for warranty purposes.
Thanks again

2) What fw you have installed? The fw60911A is an official fw, distributed by the producer, so you can downgrade with it, if needed. Take note that the unofficial, after installation, shows as version "60911A".

Thanks for the speedy reply
Please tell me more about the EP recording mode.
I don't quite understand why it is 6h to 3h. Is this better?
I have the original fw 60519A installed.
*Things I have done - A million thanks to you*
1. The 7 0's - now region free
2. OP2 > 60 - enabled show-view
3. OP5 > DE - enabled Disc-recording mode NTSC / PAL
4. OP6 > AF - enabled Mpeg4 recording
Can I change other OPS to enable other hidden features?
How will I benefit by changing my fw with an official or unofficial fw, if at all?
I don't need showview as we don't have TV PlusCodes in South Africa. Can I change OP2 to anything else or should I just leave OP2 as 60?
Why do they disable things like Mpeg4 recording etc? I mean they made it with it... confused!!!
Now that I changed some of the OPS will the warranty now be void... or can I just change them back if need be?
PS. How did you gather this knowledge, just interested lol
Thanks again!!!

If the fw installed is satisfactory for you, you have no need to upgrade.
Your OPs are OK, you can add also DVD-RAM support (dwnload OPlab and check how to change OP for this).
EP standard recording mode can fit 6 hours in a 4,7 gb DVD with a low quality results.
EP recording mode improved in the unofficial fw can fit 3 hours in a 4,7 gb DVD with a good quality, between SP and LP.

What fw can i upgrade to without voiding the warranty? Should i also upgrade the bios?
I tried the dvd initialize trick in nero then when initializing on the lg hdd it freezes up when it gets to 0s remaining forcing me to power off and on. Then when i try copying from lg it hasn't been initialized, do u think this has something to do with the f/w. I wrote the disk in nero 7 premium burning rom following the directions in the InitDVD zip file. Why is it not working? Is there another way?
Just in case u need here are my OPS
OP1: 0c
OP2: 60
OP3: 02
OP4: 70
OP5: de
OP6: a0
OP7: 2a
OP8: 01
Thank You
