I edited the msg, with the speaking place! Ok, now I can see (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Nice to have fast recording with edited titles. Rock on! (there's few more things to improve, let's hope they will do that) @Nicodocet: Did you already tested this latest beta firmware? Is it working ok? It gives what it promises! Only a minor problem in FFW & REW of the titles fast copied to a DVD. Ok, I tried, and it works ok, it really gives what it promises. And I haven't noticed any problem when ff or rew title. What kind of problem is it? I hope they will enlarge subtitles also, so I can sell my philips that I bought just becouse of bigger subtitles. I noticed an irregular progression during the FFW or REW: sometimes in the junctions point FFW or REW skip frames, but it's not a grave problem. We'll live (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) It's just great that now we can fast copy files even if they're edited. It's so much better than waiting 2 hours for 2 hour movie. Now it's finished in 5-10 minutes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Great work, whoever did this! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

They say: 60911_NT ... but please refer to "Gurus fw", not "hac**d fw".... this sounds better to the "big brother's ears". What about giving us your original OP's dump for the OPlab database and your recorder native country? ;) LRH-780 (firmware 60719A_NT) - Loader: SL40 Canada ... I think this model was exclusive to Future Shop Default OP codes: OP1: 90 OP2: 00 OP3: 00 OP4: 59 OP5: 0E OP6: 9D OP7: 03 OP8: 01 OP6 bit 5/6/7: changing all three to 0 works for all-region. OP6 bit 1: works to enable/disable MPG4 recording This post has been edited by obs: Nov 5 2007, 08:53 AM |

@obs: thanks for the dump!
@larryGB: I never heard before about the RH790, but I suppose is the same as RH780 but with a larger HDD. Is it so? In case the new fw should work. You can also compare your recorder inside view with the one, coming from RH780, published, to be sure. Can you send us your OPs dump? And an inside view hi-res image (I can check it for you)? |

Dump is here" http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtop...st&p=816463 LRH-780 is physically the same as the LRH-790 except these differences: - 790 has a two port Card Reader for CF, MD, ST1 MD, SD, Mini SD, MMC, MMC PLus, RS MMC, MMC Mobile, xD, MS, MS Duo, MS Pro, MS PRo Duo, with Fat12, 16, or 32 formats - Full Width cover. [780 only has the DV and A/V In 2 covered with a 1/3 Width Cover] - 790 has an HDMI Connection with 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i Resolution button on top pannel - 790 has a 250gb HDD - 780 has a 80gb HDD [according to specs in manual] - 790 has a "Resolution" on top of front panel, 780 has a "Timeshift" button instead [taken from the 780/790 Owners manual] [The download from lg.ca for this unit has a header on the title page as such:RH1799MS/RH1777MS-AA1CLL_ENG for the MODEL:LRH-780/LRH-790 owners manual] I tried some H/R pictures, but I do not have a macro setting at present. I will soon have [on order] a 5mp digicam with macro provision, for which I will submit pictures, when received. I'm assuming the Guru's NTSC 780 FW should work with this unit, but with different OPs settings. Thanks... |

I HAVE A PROPLEM READING DVDS MOST OF THE TIME IT SYES NO DISC OR CHECK DISK? What kind of DVD: original DVD or +-R/RW? In what country did you buy your recorder? @LarryGB: Sorry, I forgot you already sent your dump! grrrr.... I'm enough sure your recorder is equal to the european RH200MH... so the fw you asked about should work! Don't take care about OPs: they are stored in an eeprom different to the one where the fw is stored.... so if you upgrade you will keep your Ops setting, which will be suitable also by the new fw. @cardiology May be, if they realize about, you can loose your warrenty: but how can they realize about if the version showed is the same (60911A)? |

> OBS, have you tried the new FW on your 780? I would be interested to know if it would work on the 790! Anyone else tried this?
Nope, not yet. If I do, it won't be until after Grey Cup (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . I'm kind of waiting to see if the Guru will update it so that we can fast dub edited video clips. Right now, I'm only interested in getting the latest firmware. I get the "bright flashes" when recording via the tuner. It's not too bad, though, so I can live with it ... only happens on some stations, and not that often. I think 780 and 790 share the same firmware, though. > LRH-780 is physically the same as the LRH-790 except these differences: You forgot to mention that the 790 looks cooler, being all black (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) . |

Flashed the FW to the Guru's version, now I can actually see that the Ops setting for MPeg 4 is showing. No major failure, as the display said updating 1~100, and Update OK. Powered Off, Powered On. No ill effects, so far. Set the TimerRec to a short start, but no actual power off and turn on happened. Will have to do a long term [some time in future event] to see if that function works. What is meant by "Improved DVD Navigation"? On DVD Menus? LG Recorderd DVD's? So far it seems that the 790 is the same as the 780, but with more hardware/interface options..... BTW, for anyone who has locked themselves out of the Parental Lock settings, the factory unlock code is: 210499 set on the 1 level icon. Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere.... Will do more testing later.... |

Thanks for being a pioneer!
Can you confirm the firmware version is (based on) 60911A_NT by doing a firmware check? Thanks. |

Set the TimerRec to a short start, but no actual power off and turn on happened. Will have to do a long term [some time in future event] to see if that function works. How many "short"? This "optional" work as follow: 1) set a timer record with a delay time of almost 7 minutes (not shorter....) 2) at 6 minutes (instead of 10) a warning message will appear 3) at 3 minutes your recorder will be turned off. What is meant by "Improved DVD Navigation"? On DVD Menus? LG Recorderd DVD's? I tried a Disn*y DVD of my son.... surprise: now I can skip unuseful advertise/trailer and go directly to the main menu. Thanks for being a pioneer! Can you confirm the firmware version is (based on) 60911A_NT by doing a firmware check? Thanks. Yes, this the Ver reported in the menus. Although the Ver during CD upgrade indicated Ver 70905A Cware 3620_P15, the original before upgrade was 60417A_NT Cware Prod 33, it now says 60911A_NT Cware 3520_P15. One thing that I have noticed is that when you enable Mpeg4, The display menu indicates it as the recording format. If you do a manual recording, it will then record the sequence to an Movies>Divx listing, where you can read the info and see that it is an Mpeg4 [xvid] movie with AC3 audio format. But if you set a timer recording the sequence is saved to the standard titles menu, probably in the native recording format. You then have to use the Home button to navigate to the Movie>HDD, or Movie>Divx to find the file of the associated recorded sequence. Also the display menu indicating recording time left, is updated from ~ 132Hrs to ~235Hrs depending if Mpeg 4 is turned off, or turned on. Seems like a favourable/approximate relationship. So, if one is going to dub a HDD recording to DVD as in a TV Episode series, it probably is best to leave MPEG4 off, as it probably would not build a properly formatted disk for DVD compatibility. If one is going for Max HDD storage/time, then MPEG4 would be perferred, and even if dubbed to DVD would only be playable on a PC, or a XVID/DIVX equipped DVD player. These scenarios will have to be re-tested. A project for another night..... nicodocet Yes, I've also noticed that as well about the auto power off, thanks for confirming that operation. And thanks for the info on the Skip Titles/Advert navigation, that sounds like a logical improvement This F/W is becoming a real improvement..... |
