Sure you "successfully" upgraded your RH277H to 60911A?
I think it is not possibile your recorder survived to such upgrade: fw 60911A is suitable only for RH1000 series recorder, not for RH2000 series like your.
Same thing with 100420beta, like you experimented.
Unfortunaly there is no way to resume your recorder without desoldering the flash and reprogramming it.

Thanks.
I am sure you are right.
I don't remember what firmware was on earlier, but it wasn't the original. I did an upgrade a year ago I am sure.
So I can not force the downgrade. :(
Who can desolder the flash and reprogram it?
Would an LG sevice point do it? (In Budapest there is Szerviz Kft, would they do it?)

P.S. I tried to put a different firmware on it started, verified (after 3x thr REC button), and asked for a REC push, I did it but nothing happened. Isn't this a possibble solutions with one of the updates?

SORRY to say so, but you are a looser!

Several users unsuccessfully tried the same. You are not the only one ...
Your recorder/board is lost.
In Germany in such cases repair by LG Service costs Eur 250, as I heard in German Forum dvdboard.de and from unlucky users ...

All the best!

FERNSEHTECHNIKER

PS: Perhaps, you can buy a cheap same recorder with defective DVD or HDD drive at eBay and combine parts of both to a running recorder.

I think an LG service will probably change the entire board.
Try to follow Fernsehtechniker's suggestion: may be you find a cheap defective unit, much less cheaper than normal repairing costs.
Changing the board is not difficult.

@ Fernsehtechniker: I'm happy to hear you!

I am new to this forum and need some help. I have a German LG RH 277H and urgently looking for the latest firmware . I see that most people have 70919a but can not find it any where. Can someone be so kind to send the link or firmware for the 2000 series.

You have to change OP setting, after entered in the service menu.
It'll work only if you have a real RH265 (i.e. P1L model, not P1M...).
Post your OP setting if you need help for this.

Un caro saluto a Te e alla moglie americana che ha deciso di sopportare un italiano per tutta la vita! ;)

I have a SD09 loader not recognizing discs well lately, LOL. The usual LG scenario... Do you guys have any suggestions as to how to fix the "unknown disc" error?
I'm thinking about laser pickup replacement or the whole laser mechanism... Any LG drives compatible with SD09?
I've seen suggestions on this page: http://ifndef.alterv.../index_eng.html and no drives compatible with SD09 are listed here, can't see any...
Is there anything else I should know? What would be the best way to fix it?

I've been using LG disc drives in PC's and they seem to work forever (never had trouble) but they die like flies in LG recorders? What gives?

Continuing previous post about fixing a limping DVD loader...

Recorder info: LRH-890   (on the back RH 298H-ML)

SET: Ver=70125A_NT Cware 2k_61 BSP = DMN3 FME
IO:Ver=R20(D19), Loader:SD09, USB:1.1 TouchPad:v5

On the DVD drive sticker
Loader10
EAZ34934501
shows at "LG parts" as discontinued

replacements, as per LG:
EAZ34934512
EAZ34934513
EAZ34934801
EAZ34934811

Which of the existing PC drives would be most compatible allowing for parts swap-out.
Called LG service depot... I was told the culprit is the laser pickup that simply craps out on these units.
Don't know if LG laser pickup exchange with another unit would be possible.

Since the drive is connected with a LG ver. ribbon cable possibly a 6870R1888AA Loader Junction IDE INTERFACE may be needed (PLL 1602, or PLL 1604)
Any ideas what to do or how to go about it?

I think any drive installed in rh3xx series should works also in previuous series.
You could also buy from LG the ZIF-IDE board placed in the back of the hdd (or the one placed in the back od the drives in RH1xx series) and try to use it with a normal LG IDE drive, choosing one from the compatible list.

I know... this is PHILIPS LG 6870R1888AA Loader Junction IDE INTERFACE or 6870R1887AA (HDD hookup) $15 at LG

Added comment, My friend who also has a LG unit LRH 880 found that there are many different LG DVD drives that you can use to replace the ones in most units. All the 6721R*N021 A-B or C units are interchangable with each other and are the same as AAX36470824. He bought a drive to replace his on eBay for $ 35 U.S. I looked at the dealer he got his from and he has (2) more for sale (6721R-N021C). Just bolts and plugs in. Sure would have been easier than what I went through. Mark also did a lot of research and found that almost an LG GSA drive with the H**N designations will work along with many GSA 416*B drives. There is a problem with the letter L (light scribe designation) drives not working for very long.

I decided to try 6721R-N021A. I ordered it already, just $15, and if there's trouble which I do not foresee for now, then I may go H55N or GH22N route which is not a 100% solution either for some strange reason, it works for some and it doesn't for others... Soon I'll find out. Laser pickup alone is around $80, LOL. You just shake your head when you go through this forum or other online posts, so many LG loaders die, some within few days from purchase. This is ridiculous. I have yet to see a reliable LG product...
Thanks for suggestions nicodocet.

I bought 2 just in case LOL (I have 2 recorders) it's listed on Ebay.ph (Philipines) but stocked in Illinois, US. Total for 2 with shipping ~40 bucks. Search Google for 6721R-N021C and it will come up. The IDE interface is coming from Korea, no stock here in Canada or in the US. Already ordered.
I will have parts in about 7-10 days (DVD's 3-5 days but shipping from Korea 5-10). I'll keep you posted if it worked.

check this: http://azsurplus.com...roducts_id=1458
1$, unfortunately gone... no wonder, at this price!?

Hi, My name is Cole, I'm from Australia,

I'm in need of some assistance with my 06 bought sent back to LG due to not reading dvd's and the problem is happenning again. It sometimes loads old dvd's if I can be bothered sitting there for hours pushing the close button , unknown disc malarchy. it eventually reads it, and then sometimes doesnt but is not recignising any dvd recordable media so I can burn the programs to dvd which is unfortunate, cds and data discs are fine.
Are the drives that faulty that they just pack up and decide not to co-operate anymore.
My pc dvd drive which is also LG has had a longer life and gets more burns out of it.

Model:
RH1777

Loader: SL40
HDD size 80 gb
set: ver=60419A ???? havent seen this one mentioned Cware=3620_P15 BSP=DMN3 FME
CHIP ID domino  1
I/O Micom Ver=Mask:R60.(D61)
1394 ID = 0x00EOo100

Ive tried cleaning the len with a dvd lens cleaner disc, not helping,

Tried 3 brands of DVD's +rw, - rw, DVD-r etc.

OP codes

1-0c
2-00
3-05
4-50
5-5e
6-cd
7-01
8-16.

Are you able to tell me if I'm on the most current firmware and loader, and which one i should download to make it current and any op codes?
I have changed the region free code. yay. pity i cannot use it lol.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Also would it help to try a wet dvd lens cleaner????

Cannot for the life of me find one in office works or jb everythings dry dry dry.

Thanks again.

Hi Dan!

I read your request for FW.
If you publish your email address, I can send it to you.
Meanwhile, there was published newer FW 80402A by LG.
File sizes about 5MB, may be, it can not be transferred in one piece, so I´ll have to split it.

Hi i'm t0nito, I've posted before sometime ago about a dvd drive "total transplant" :P

Anyway, I have a problem with my recorder, It's been there for some time but now I'd like to fix it.
At first the power button (on the recorder itself) stopped working then, any button I'd press on the recorder would open and close the dvd tray, now no button works but I wouldn't mind that because I have the remote control except that the dvd player looks possessed, because it opens and closes the tray randomly on it's own, sometimes I can watch a whole dvd without it happening, other times it opens and closes constantly.

I opened up the recorder and accessed the control/VFD display board, I unplugged and replugged the cables, I inspected it visually to see If I'd detect burnt up conponents or bulged capacitors, but it looked ok, but I'm guessing the control board is faulty, so I guess I have to replace it with a new one. Where can I find one?

Recorder model RH199 (europe) same as RH1999. Logic board is a RH1000 series. Please help!

Well, I have an update on this situation, seems like this is a more or less common situation on lg recorders, I'm surprised no one replyed. Anyway, I opened the recorder again and checked the tactile switches on the board for continuity, and it turned out the eject button's continuity wasn't infinite, which means the switch was always in contact as if it were closed, I removed the switch and atleast the tray isn't opening by itself, but the other buttons still aren't working, and after I put the whole thing back together guess what, it's now recording by itself too! >:( now I'll have to open it again and check the buttons for continuity again. I guess the best solution it to replace all the buttons but the eject button was easy to remove but the remaining buttons are partially behind the display screen, it's gonna be a real pain to remove the without removing the screen as well! For anyone who needs to replace the buttons I found them on ebay as "FKX-111 Tact Switch" but they only sell minimum 100 pieces.

Cole, The problem is in the LG DVD SuperMulti unit. LG made a number with faulty lens units and will repair them for free if you want to keep sending it back. They keep using the bad lens units hoping they will work. I replaced my drive with one from a lady in Indiana, USA. I fix the units I buy on eBay cheap and make good money on them. LG Canada will replace the bad lazer unit but the new one may not work right for too long. Better to just buy a new drive deck or replace the laser. The place I buy them from has never sent me a bad one. Her husband is in the hospital now so she may not return your email very quickly. You can buy a deck on eBay for $ 180 or more or one from her for $ 30. Her email address is <chilisbear@hotmail.com>. She will even give you a deal for more than one unit.

Any ideas what to do or how to go about it?
Almost any LG superMulti dvd drive has a swapable laser. I just changed the laser in my RH199H VCR/DVD recorder. I bought a used LG GSA-H10A pc dvd recording drive ($ 16) and changed the laser and board. Took about 20 minutes and it works prefectly. Someone mounted a pc unit on top of his unit instead of simply changing the internal deck. I have used four different LG GSA-H*** drives, including Hitachi drives, as laser parts units and the only ones that I find don't work are the ones with LightScribe. They will have a L after the identifier instead of a A or N (ex GSA-H41L). I did help my friend swap out the DVD laser in his HDD/DVD unit and we used a GSA-H41** in that one also worked prefectly. LG makes the DVD decks for Hitachi and Zenith. Those guys on eBay that want $ 200 + for a 6721R-N021 drive are nuts. There is a lady in Indiana, USA that sells the 6721R*N021* decks for about $ 30 but her husband is in bad shape and she isn't responding right now. If you want an easy swap out her email address is chilisbear@hotmail.com.
Good luck,
Billy07
