When I press the 'Planner' button on my Foxtel IQ2, I keep getting this error message "powering up from energy saver mode, please wait a minute". Soft reset does not fix it and Foxtel want to replace the box, but I have heaps of shows recorded that I will lose. Anyone found a way to fix this??

You could use skycopy+ to copy your hard drive contents and then transfer onto the new box once you have it? The only downside would be risking warranty as you cannot open the box without screwing up the warranty sticker.

Just an update to the FAQ.

From an IQ2 box i'm successfully running HD component out to my projector and HDMI via extenders to my Plasma.

The FAQ seemed to indicate that the IQ2 would only output HD via component OR HDMI but not both unless you used SD component out via the SCART connector with HDMI.

Thanks

Edit: just when i thought i had this working have realised that the TV connected via HDMI needs to be turned on otherwise no picture is displayed from the HD component output due to HDCP issues (SCART SD component and composite not effected). This happens even with the HDCP warnings turned off.

sorry if this is in the wrong place, new here, iv had a search around the forum but cannot find info relating specifically to my question.

im looking at getting foxtel installed in my shed. i already have 1 standard foxtel box inside through telstra, just trying to find out the best way to go about this?? whats a rough cost?? whether i would have to get a sat dish on the shed or a cable running from the box inside?? i would much prefer a dish as i am not willing to run cables through the house and out doors etc or to have them installed through the walls of the house as it is solid brick.

i live in the port adelaide area.
the point i want the box installed is around 25 metres from the box inside.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!!

[size="3"]Please be gentle I'm new to this. I've just ordered my IQ 2 box. Currently I have the IQ box running to 3 televisions. Main tv through tv scart to component. 2nd tv video scart to composite and 3rd tv composite to composite. All work at the same time obviously on the same channel. My question is this – with the IQ 2 can I run these 3 outputs at the same time? HDMI to tv HDMI, component HD to tv component, tv scart to tv composite? I've read many posts about this but I'm still a little confused. Some posts state that you cant get HDMI and component HDMI from the iq2 box at the same time. I really need the three outputs to work or I might as well stay with the IQ box

hi guys. i have what seems to be an unusual problem, at least from the perspective that i haven't been able to find any other similar cases from my internet searches. i had foxtel hd installed yesterday. the technician didn't have a hdmi cable with him at the time, so he just connected the iq2 box with the component cables already there connecting the previous iq box. i had no problems after this was done and was able to access all channels as normal and all digital free to air channels incl the hd versions of each (i only have satellite foxtel so have to watch free to air hd channels through the tv channel)

then today i got a hdmi cable which i connected. when i went to watch 7hd earlier i got a message saying no signal. it was the same story with all free to air digital and hd channels. no signal at all. i have attempted to re-tune the free to air channels and have had some success. 1st off i was able to get sbs and ch 31 only. now when i run the auto tune i am only able to get all of channels 7 and 9 and 31 up and running but no ch 10, sbs, abc. i have run the auto tune half a dozen times and just keep getting the same channels, 7 9 and 31 only

can anyone shed some light on what the problem could be?

thanks in advance

I can confirm that the latest IQ2 boxes do not output HD via component.  HDMI only.

Hello, kindly requesting some assistance, I'll need spoon feeding as Im having issues.
Ive got a Bravia tv, foxtel iq1 and a sony rdr-gx3 dvd recorder.

I have run the foxtel scart/rca to the dvdr then rca out to the tv. Ive tried the s video cable from foxtel to dvdr & dvdr to tv.
I am only getting a white screen at the moment.

Can you please advise how I should set this up in order to record what foxtel is playing?

Many thanks for any help as I could not find any ref to white screen in this forum.

Shawn

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but struggling to find 1 definitive answer.

I'm moving to a townhouse which is wired for Foxtel, but they (foxtel) tell me that its wired via satellite and with only one cable so I can't get IQ or HD services. This seems a little strange as I thought the two cables were for the different polarisations (horizontal and vertical).

In South Africa I had exactly the same setup, with a sattelite dish with a single LNB, one cable to a PVR which was a watch 2, record a 3rd and it worked perfectly, except there were a few channels I couldn't get. But the PVR functionality worked perfectly - it wasn't an HD PVR so don't know if that would have worked.

But Foxtel are adament that I can't get IQ because its only one cable. I have yet to speak to the installer as thats only booked for 3 weeks time when I move in.

So if thats all true and I can't get any IQ or HD, I think the next best option would be a standalone HD PVR. I have read there are a few - Beyonwiz, Topfield, etc that can record via AV input. Can anyone give me a brief idea of what the best setup would be if all I really want to do is watch a couple of HD channels (even FTA ones) and record Foxtel shows on a PVR. Would it be possible to get an EPG for Foxtel on the PVR so that I can easily programme the recordings?

Don't really care about media players, streaming, internet connectivity.

Thanks

Does anyone know if theres a way to change the output of the foxtel box from 50hz to 60hz or more? I've noticed with my new tv that 50hz produces horrible stuttering on pan shots (eg the stuff on Discovery HD) and it appears from a bit of research that the tv doesnt handle 50hz tv too well.. Yet it plays 24hz blurays beautifully.

I have searched for a few days but cant find an answer to my simple question.

I have my main tv connected to my IQ2 by component. Im trying to run another out from the  scart/component connection. I can get picture on only one tv, but sound on both. Option 1 and 2 give me a picture on the main tv (component) but no pic on the second tv (scart/component). Option 3 and 4 do the oposite (Pic on the scart/component, no pic on the component)

Another issue i have is that trying HDMI from the IQ2 to any TV gives me nothing! Regardless of video setting.

HD menu is set Auto for resolution video setting on option 1 or 2.  When i do plug in the HDMI cable i get a HDCP error message, but it goes after 2 secs. But there is no output on the HDMI source on the TV.

Can te IQ2 box output component and scart at the same time? From what ive read here, it should.

When I connect my IQ2 via HDMI I notice that there is a significant lag in response to pressing buttons on the remote. If I change the connection to component the lag disappears and channel scrolling etc is instantaneous. Is this a common problem?

Does your TV have image/motion enhancement settings?  If so, try turning them off for the input to which the IQ is connected.  I had this problem with a Panasonic LCD that has "motion picture pro" defaulting to MAX.  Turning it off fixed this problem on the TV itself and on the IQ2 (most noticable during fast moving football).

Hi,

I have a foxtel iq2 with hdmi going to projector, and scart tv output conected to samsung 50 inch plasma , projector colour space is correct but scart output to samsung is in wrong colour space with rgb,and component with purple or grey cast (video 4,vid 3 options ), and is not watchable .

I want 2 conections that output to each tv,without having to change settings(easier for others to use ) and at the same time without swapping cables .Tv does not have s video.
Also it asks for a pin number is there a default pin number or do I need to check for a pin they assigned me.

Any ideas would be great.
Cheers Victor.

The default pin is 1234.
The solution i have found is using HDMI and component (rather than scart). It seems to output both at the same tims using option 1 or 2.
I coudnt get HDMi and cart to work (could get one, but not the other). In my case, HDMi needed option 1 or 2, scart needed option 3 or 4.

When using the "component out" the scart outputs are only composite thats why you get no pic conecting component to 2nd tv.For even better result you can use hdmi to 1 tv then component out to 2nd.

PS.You can turn off HDCP error messages in set up.

Hey Guys,

Quick question, I had to disconnect everything at the weekend whilst moving stuff around. When I reconnected IQ2 to TV via HDMI, then IQ2 to my receiver via Scart to component (IQ2 box has two scarts on rear) I now get the Fox 8 and Arena programs in 4:3...I am currently watching Foxtel through HDMI to TV not via Receiver so I don't think adding the scart should interfere.

I have tried every conceivable variation in the video settings:

I just bought a 16:9 (widescreen) TV what are the correct Foxtel STB(Set Top Box) aspect settings ?

Normally for a widescreen TV, have Foxtel STB Aspect ratio control=By STU (and TV Type=16:9), then select your personal preference for how 4:3 programs are displayed (pillar box or stretch or 14:9).
Only if using a fully wired Scart to Scart cable to connect your TV and your TV has an auto aspect mode would you normally consider picking Aspect ratio control=By TV.

but cannot get the picture full screen any more, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Are you only getting 2 channels incorrect? That would suggest everything is set up correctly.

When you say 4:3, do you mean 4:3 or do you mean the picture is squashed or stretched? If the image looks ok then the channels are probably being broadcast in 4:3 (remembering a lot of older shows are 4:3 and that they have black bars added down each side to make them 16:9)

Otherwise I would use your TV remote and confirm the TV aspect ratio is set correctly.

Its also possible you used to have the TV on some sort of 'zoom' setting so that a 4:3 broadcast was increased so that it had no black bars either side (of course you lose some of the show off the top and bottom). Or conversely on your old 4:3? TV you again zoomed up the 16:9 image to fill the whole screen and so lost some show of the left and right sides.

Peter Gillespie

Hi Peter,

The TV aspect ratio is set to auto. I used to get 4:3 broadcasts, mainly Ellen Degeneres show and Americas Next Top Model in what what looked like a stretched image, since disconnecting and reconnecting everything, those two shows now have the black bars either side.

I noticed during the ad breaks that the picture is normal, obviously due to the AU broadcasted adverts being 16:9, this tell sme that I probably have everything set up correctly but when I go into the Foxtel picture settings and have it set to 4:3 images as stretched, they still have the black sidebars......annoying the hell out of me knowing that it was OK before pulling it all apart....

Cheers

Arena and Fox8 are widescreen channels, even though there are black bars down the side it's being broadcast that way so the Foxtel box sees it as 16:9 and therefore won't stretch it to fill the screen
