Asking for help?

I just bought LEADTEK's Winfast DTV Dongle H, digital/analog TV and FM/DVB-T radio tuner, but the picture i get is black and white. I'd like to use an analog broadcast, and I have a Cable service. I have all the drivers and utilities installed, from the CD they included, and i also have the latest video card drivers installed. The picture is sharp, and the sound is of good quality too, so I believe it is not a cable matter.
Now, the strange thing is, that in the display options the program which actually provides the TV broadcast, named "winfast PVR2" does not let me change any of the visual settings, such as brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc... The level is set to zero for all of them, that is why the picture is only in black and white. It does not matter which renderer I use (there are 3 options: overlay mixer, VMR, VMR9), the bars just stay grey, and unchangeable. I looked for forums that especially discuss the troubles of this device but I've found nothing so far.
Any suggestions, on how i could get them changed? I'd appreciate it.

Looked around forums and they directed me to look here. Basically i'm after a TV Tuner card and was wondering whether or not the portable antennas that come with them are good. It will be located at the window if need to be. I'm just after information as to whether or not it would work that way. I know it depnds on the location etc, but i'm just after a general view. I want to avoid bunny ears if possible and i cannot put ports to an external antenna

This is all very new to me and I have managed to view channels 7,9 & 10 + ABC but cannot get SBS which is paramount.
In order to record and watch different tv simultaneously I may not have the right tv tuner but I don't know which tuner I have and can't find this in my help facility so welcome any pointers.
When I burn content to dvd, how do I ensure it will be in a format that will play on normal dvd players - not divx types?
Thanks

Joey, Thanks for trying to get this running, it's a really great idea.
To some of the others, may I respectfully suggest that you haven't read Joeys FIRST POST in this thread ......
PLEASE SUPPLY THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION WHEN INITIALLY ASKING FOR HELP IN THE FORUM.................
I'm failing to see what the problem is here guys, Joey has simply come up with a list of questions that a trouble-shooter might like to know when trying to assist someone with problems.
If you think Joey has left an appropiate question out, simply tell us what you believe the missing question(s) to be.
Suggestion.....
Joey, Many problems are caused by inadequate powers supplies. Do you think this is a relevant question to add to your list ?
Kudos to you Joey !!

I have a Pinnacle PCTV nanoStick (73e) DVB-T along with a Crest, indoor DVT-T flat panel antenna (a4000) uhf/fm/hdtv digital (uhf fq range 470-870 mhz, FVHF 47-230 mhz)
PC Specs: Asus P5LD2 Deluxe Motherboard
- Pentium D CPU - 3.2 & 3.2 ghz
- 2gb Ram
- Asus ATI 4850 GPU
- Windows XP SP3
- Netgear USB 2.0 WG111 wireless adapter
Area: Norwin (post code 4407) (60km west of Toowoomba, QLD)
I'm having troubles finding channels for the tuner, I've tried all sorts of scans, and nothing comes up. I've unsuccessfully tried input frequencies etc. manually, but even then I've got absolutely no idea as to what I'm doing wrong, even after reading up on some of the posts re: tuning in the regional qld sub-forum. When going to add a channel manually, it asks for the following:
channel type: (Digital mpeg2, or digital h264)
frequency:
service id:
original network id:
transport stream id:
PMT id:
PCR id:
I've tried using some of the information as mentioned in the relevant forums, but I can't seem to get anything to work. Any help/suggestions re: both the tuner, and/or adding manual tv channels would be much appriciated. Is it possible that my problem simply lies in that I don't have a strong enough antenna?
Thanks in advance
edit: I should note, that by entering some frequencies, I can get a signal strength of up to 55%, but no signal quality.

Ok I normally do a bit more research on this stuff before purchasing, but I thought it's be easier than this. I made the mistake of purchasing a DVR card. Can read to story of why a DVR card below. But suffice to say I can get any channels out of it. I keep scanning for them but I get nothing. NO signals whatsoever.
So what am I doing wrong? I'm thinking of going to dicksmith and picking up one of those specialised DTV antennas... but thats $60 on top of the $100 that I paid for the card...
I feel like a rookie for it not working so blatently. But thats the truth, TV signals are definately not my field of expertise. So anyone who has any suggestions
1. What is the problem with it? and can it be fixed?
2. Should I get another Antenna?
3. Should I just give up and try to return the card etc.
Story: So anyway there is a TV with a set top box in the living room. That works fine, but I have a small TV in my bedroom at the opposite end of the house. That one just has standard def. So knowing that SD will be phased out soon I thought since there is a nice big computer screen next to my bed why not use that and since my rig is definately fast enough make it into a DVR as well.

K, I have purchased a Videomate Vista E650f Hybrid D/A PCIe card.
My problem is that it will not receive HD programs, the anologue and FM radio works fine.
I contacted Compro who told me to uninstall and update my drivers, this is where I have my problem!!!
I have uninstalled the drivers as per the instructions that where sent to me and have downloaded the latest drivers and have only been able to install the "VME800_6.0.107.5" driver!
When I try to install the "ComproDTV_4.28.410" it comes up and says - Setup has detetcted that version 4.51.200 is already installed. This setup installs an earlier version of ComproDTV 4 (4.28.410). You will have to uninstall the previous version before installing this version.
I for the life of me have searched everywhere and can't find any related programs that have the older version on it. how do I fix this?
I am running Xp

Found out quite a bit of info on it, but didn't bother to check whether or not it would work in Australia. Got it today and was pretty annoyed at myself that i hadn't and it wasn't finding any channels. So i was wondering if this is possible
A)Return/Sell on Ebay the SA290-Q and buy a Set top box (SD/HD?) and hook it up to my LCD monitor through the DVI or VGA connection.. would this work?
B)Run a set top box through the SA290-Q's input, and do the same with a DVD player/Xbox........ would this Work?
Any help would greatly be appreciated as i've wasted $150 ($65-70 on postage) on something i can't use and it's pretty frustrating.

I have purchased a Gigabyte GT-PTV-TAF-RH, which comes with Powercinema 5.0. It installed fine, however when I go to scan for dvb-t channels it does not tune any. I plugged in my old set top box into the same antenna port and it picked up everything fine, so it is not a signal problem. I installed dvb dream and it picked up all the digital tv channels. I would like to get the tv tuner working with powercinema so that my son can operate it with his remote supplied with the card. Any suggestions???
I just downloaded a trial of Powercinema 6.0 and installed. Same problem exists, it does not detect any digital tv channels at all. Once again this is not a signal problem as set top box works fine from same outlet. Madness????
