She's won twice already and is heading for three straight if the current game is anything to go by.
This time it's more a case of bad luck. I've already been sent to jail six times, avoiding Go on every occasion.  :angry2:

We haven't played Monopoly for years. The fact that there's nothing worth watching on TV at the moment has probably contributed to it. It is a good game. Characters can get a bit annoying, but you can fast forward through most of it. It's just as frustrating as the real version, but at least when you get bored, you can switch it off and come back to it when you're ready and pick up exactly where you left off. That can be difficult with the physical version. It's also very strict on the rules. I wasn't even aware that if a player lands on a property which is for sale, then someone must buy it. The auction process can be fun, although we discovered that if no-one buys at auction, the player who landed on it gets it for nothing. Only other issue is that because the money is controlled by the game, you can't play the strip version.  :D

I'm playing Trine on the PS3 at the mo. Beautiful looking game with some cool puzzly elements. If it looks and plays as well as the first I too will grab it.

HN have the 4GB with Kinect for $276. Sell the Kinect (if not required) for $100 on ebay and you end up paying stuff all.

Yeah sweet that's what I was thinking when I was at JB yesterday as they have similar deals, and I would just sell the games.

Hi there, sorry if this has been raised before, but I am considering purchasing a 360 and am tossing up whether to go for the cheaper 4GB model or fork out for the 250GB unit? I assume that the latter allows the HDD to be used for downloaded content/games and partial HDD installation of disc based games. If this is the case, does that mean that the 4GB model essentially has to play all games directly from disc (does this impact the gameplaying experience?) and cannot store larger downloadable content/games?

I guess in a  nutshell I am trying to understand the pro's/con/s of each unit and whether there is an option to add a HDD to the 4GB unit.

Cheers for any assistance that can be offered.

I'd just go the 250Gb right off the bat. Easier than mucking about with after purchase units and 3rd party cheapy hacked versions. These things are as cheap as chips at the moment with the sales and what not going on.

When all's said and done you really do need the HDD. Those 4Gb "arcades" are ok if you just want to play a game every now and again and just save your "saves" to the paltry 4Gb but for DLC, Themes, XBLA (games etc), Demos and so on you just can't do it without an HDD.

You can't do partial installs like the PS3 it's either all or nothing. So with a game like say Skyrim at 8.1Gb you see instantly where your 4Gb is just useless.

Will keep and eye out for sub-$400 250 GB + kinect deals in the lead up to xmas.

so here's what i picked up last week  ( that i have purchase regrets over cos i really don't need it and the other 360 still works and no one really uses them, a little yoga is it )
thought the white one was almost out of storage and turns out it's a 20gb not a 4

got a 250 gb kinect bundle with adventures and carnival
just dance 2 ( i think it was that dance title)
and the halo / fable
$429

X-Box 4GB slim, brand new.

$169 @ MLN in Melbourne, cheapest I've seen since BigW last month for $198 and Good Guys for $168 last year.

Which part died, the power supply, DVD drive or HDD?

You can replace the DVD drive and the HDD... but before you can replace the DVD drive you need to get the firmware code off the existing drive to put on the new one so the new DVD drive is recognized, and use the same type of drive.

Why not just get the 4GB one from the place I did (linked in my previous post) for $169? As it may be cheaper anyway than some places to simply get the 4GB one and put a HDD in yourself... they're only $70 from Honkas or $100 here.

It's a good point, I'm not sure which part of it died, I didn't know it could be isolated like that. How would I know which part died? I'm going to assume the power supply is ok seeing as it still does fire up. I just put it in the too hard basket, never thought it could be repaired. I might revisit.

I did look at the link you posted above, it is cheap, I might check out the other differences, if any, between that and the 250GB console.

Thanks for the reply :)

I have a Panasonic HD-Ready CRT TX-76PW10A which has component input and can handle 1080i.
I am using a Joytech 540c device switch with component inputs from TiVo (output fixed at 1080i) and DVD (no HD output). These outputs display ok on the TV using the component input.
I just got an XBOX 360 S console and am trying to set the output to 1080i, but I get this http://twitpic.com/bt9cer
The xbox is connected to the Joytech 540c switch using the proprietary cable that came with the Joytech 540c which has an HD/SD switch on it. The switch is set to HD.
My guess is something about the xbox -> Joytech 540c is not working properly, however the Joytech was designed to be able to do this and reviewers said that it worked in their tests.
The Joytech 540c needs to have the component setting for the AV input, and this is set correctly. (The s-video alternative is very washed out colour and no HD options are available in the xbox display settings.)
Any ideas why the xbox display is not working properly at 1080i?
Thanks

most certainly looks like the new xbox is outputting component at 1080i60 as a default, rather than 1080i50.  I would switch the cable to SD (so you can navigate), go into component settings, and change it to 1080i50, or 576p (then back up to 1080i50.
