1) You won't have an input that has HDCP content protection, or a direct digital to digital link.

2) That's unknown at this stage, but Blu-ray's only 2-3 months away.

3) No.

4) Nintendo will have HDMI on its new Revolution console.

FYI.. Big-W now has the 81cm AWA LCD's on special for the mid $1500's (can't remember exact price).

Having just paid $1880 for an 80cm Trio from Dick Smiths (which I'm very happy with) I'm now tempted to take it back for a refund to get the AWA instead.

Anyone had experience running the 81cm AWA via DVI in the native 1366x768 resolution?

well bugger that. Oh well, I'm sure they'll have the normal connections too.

So whats being said in effect is that the vast majority of the budget market is absoloutely stuffed with next gen consoles cos they don't have that fancy input? God, they definately should come up with some sort of adapter or something, I mean really.

Last Thursday I bought 32" Tevion LCD from Aldi and want advice on the following:

1. When viewing SDTV transmission via S-Video connection from a Thomson DT1500 STB
the brightness (or contrast?) is fluctuates continuosly - it is bright one
second and darken's the next.   Is it a problem with the TV or STB?  It is OK with composite.

2. When viewing DBT the picture appear distorted in the area pass the "standard" screen (as indicated by the 'V' below.  This is noticable when panning objects which are straight.  It appear ok when playing DVDs.

Your comments would be appreciated.

I wish I had seen this forum ealier because I just bought a tevion 80cm LCD TLCD32F a little while ago and I'm having all sorts of problems. The list is as follows:

a)     a pixlle has gone in the first week (in the middle of the screen)

    5 seperate occasions had to shut off TV via power point

c)      Image mode does'nt work (can only watch 50cm DVD movie)

d)     Picture ratio switch still won't help with larger DVD picture

e)     Back & front of TV overheats to something SHOCKING ! ...(disturbing)

f)      when using the contrast control via remote the TV picture fluctulates with brightness & dullness

g) ..........I have'nt checked out the HD part  ....maybe more problems to come??

After becoming depressed I finally got off my ass and called Tevion Customer Care and got a recorded message asking me to leave leave my name & number .....nothing happened after a week. So I caqlled again, the same thing happend! ...so I called again & again & again until woman answered the phone! ...after speaking to this person I could'nt understand one word cause they spoke broken English with a thick Asian accent. After a min she got some guy to speak to me and he was'nt any better!!

With all these problems I made it clear that my main issue was that I could'nt  watch a normal DVD  because of the 4 inch black line all round. So he asks which DVD player am I using and what was the model No? ....I replied "a Tevion player bla ..bla..bla..  And then he said to press on the zoom on the DVD remote to get the full picture. But the only problem with that is the picture has a distorted look to it (too close) ....so figured this guy was an IDIOT........Is Aldi this financialy tight so as to have no english speaking people working with customer care?

Enough was enough., so I went back to Aldi shop and told them all the problems and that I wanted a full refund due to it being crap! She said no refunds were allowed and I needed to call customer care with my warrantee card & docket.
I explained that customer care is full of **** and Demanded a refund with a shout.
She then said she'll speak to the manager and be back with me shortly.....10 mins later.....she explained that refund will be deposited  into my credit card and that they will call me by phone to arrange for me when to bring the TV back

Never will shop at Aldi

Just seen that Aldi have a 32" LCD up for sale starting today@ $ 1599 - quite a bit less than the Big-W AWA unit

Just for a laugh, thought I'd report that the Tevion LT-3203w that I purchased Aldi back in 2005 is still running strong and hasn't missed a beat! Only now am I considering upgrading to a larger set. I hope my next purchase is just as reliable. Funny to think that $1600 for a 32" tele was once considered a bargin - LOL

Not a laugh. I have found that all Aldi stuff is pretty good. 7 years is a good life.
Owen will tell you that the blacks are not black or the 720p is 45% overscanned in ip mode or some other rubbish, but it sounds like you have had a good 7 years out of it.

Blacks are not black on any TV and there is nothing wrong with 720p on a 32", 1080 is a waste on that size unless you sit close enough to reach out and touch the screen.

Only problem I have with Aldi TV's these days is that you can normally get a better performing TV from a major manufacture for much the same money or often less.

Sorry to hear you've had problems, but TBH don't blame Aldi completely, it sounds like you had it set up wrong IMO.
