Heres a code that works with nearly every LG DVD recorder.Go into the setup menu and cruise down to the picture of a lock. When it is highlighted press 0 (zero) about 7 times, just keep pressing until your tv has a purple background and the words, Region set: 4, what do you want the region to be? pops up, press zero again and there you have it, multiregional LG dvd recorder.

Cheers

Always have to laugh at the 'disclamers' of such devices: "We hope you will use DVD Red PRO with respects to the copyright low and will make only legal copies. We do not encourage the illegal reproduction and distribution of copyrighted content." err... it's actually illegal to remove any copy protection, by doing so, you are breaking the law, but they say they don't encourage illegal reproduction, but tell you how wonderful their product is at doing just that   Note the typo 'copyright low'

Why are they region coded in the first place?
AFAIK most of the major brands have been region free for years.

jayson5 - A million thank yous!

Mine was "region free" in that it played all regions except 1. I have just put in a region 1 DVD after following jayson5's simple instructions and it is playing. I can't believe it was THAT simple and every other website I have visited wanted to charge me money to get the instructions!

I even signed up to the forum to write my thanks.

Have a wonderful day :)

Thanks for this -- my LG started saying every disc was the wrong region, so I followed the instruction. Now it's working, but why it should suddenly decide it's not region 4 is a mystery.

I know its a super-old post, but I always remeber my first DVD player back in about 1996 or 7 (a HK no-name import), which let you select the parental controls from PG, to M, to R, to "off", and when "off" was selected, the on screen message was "You dirty old man"
