Hi guys
I just purchased a pair of Infinity Renaissance 90s and I'm in need of a new amp to go with them.
I have been looking at this one http://shop.emotiva....s/products/xpr2
but I cant seem to find an independent review. The price on it seems hard to beat for that kind of
power but not sure how it will perform otherwise.
If you have some suggestions please don't hesitate to tell me about them.
Cheers guys

Plenty of grunt in this one, price looks reasonable:

..but the numbers for that Emotiva look pretty good if your speakers don't dip below 4ohms

Do Due diligence on the seller though ... Although beejay76 is pretty good at spotting the fraudsters
Also do a bit of search for Elektra Power Amps or PM Prior.

I think for Dollar per Watt you cannot beat the Emotiva line up unless you get a second hand power amp but still the amount of power will not be in the 600wrms region.
If you haven't emailed Emotiva for delivery pricing it was about $10 per KG delivered to Australia which would put that bad boy at around $500 for delivery!

FedEx will ship it from California to Sydney for $334.71 USD plus whatever the import charges (10% GST + clearance fee): so yeah, about $500 to land it on your doorstep....

That's good then as the quote I got from them for the XPA-5 and XPR-5 were both $300 each and they were about 30kg each from memory. The delivery is dear but the overall price is still very competitive...

I have a question how big is your room. Infinity speakers like this one do enjoy been fed with power but 1000 watts is a bit too much unless you are running your speakers in a huge ( I means huge) room. For normal stereo listening you really don't need that much power. Any power amp with 100 watts or more should be more than adequate for this speaker. I suggest you look for a power amp with quality watts rather than quantity of watts.
