Hi,

I would love to get some assistance from anyone with my question as I know very little about this stuff.

I have a Yamaha RX-V 1900 which is about 4yrs old. The HDMI out port has stopped working and I've been told I need to replace the whole board (or something) and it will cost me approx $820 to fix, including labor. I use it to power my 5.1 B&W (602 s3 and 604 s3) speakers. I use the HDMI ports to get signal from my MacMini (my media centre), DVD and also Foxtel.

I'm unsure if I should fix this board and pay the $820 or buy a new amp. I'm not even sure how much I would need to spend on a new amp, or what to look for to get similar performance and features of my current Yamaha 1900.

Any assistance would be appreciated

Thanks

Agree, that quote sound over the top to me.

If more than $250 I would replace over repair.

Edit: don't throw it away though ... It still had usable amps for a second zone or kids room.

Rondo-If you are in Sydney I can recommend a top repair centre that is very fair with pricing.

I would pay to get a quote-its a nice receiver,
$800 seems very steep-more like $200 I would think.

Thank you for all of your assistance. I will go out today and get another opinion, ill also look into the costs of a new suitable amp.

I'm in Melbourne so if anyone can recommend a service centre that would be great. (Thanks anyway Storm AV)
