Last year I bought a cheapy 50 inch Panasonic Full High Definition Plasma TH-P50U30A - see specs. from Dick. It's fine for our purposes but, annoyingly, it would only scan analogue. Obviously (manufactured August 2011) it would have a digital tuner but I can't find that option anywhere in the menus. After a frustrating session, including my PhD engineer mate being baffled as well, I had a STB handy so I've just been running it on that on HDMI 1.

However I'd really like to use the one remote. Unfortunately I've lost the instruction booklet and can't seem to find a pdf out there. Any clues about menu options for a digital scan from anyone who bought one of these (they were going for about $900 early last year) ?

Edit: found a manual online. Will report back. :phone:

Nope, manual says to choose Analogue or Digital mode. Nothing of that nature displayed on any menu. hmmphh.

Is there an option to restore it to Factory settings? That should erase the channels and allow you to re-tune it, with options. I'm guessing but that would seem to me to be logical.

Usually in TV MODE toggle the TV button to switch between ANALOGUE and DIGITAL TV, once in digital tv press menu then SETUP
then OK then Digital TV Tuning Menu, then OK  then Auto Tuning and ok again and the Magic should happen. As in the earlier post
if you do a full factory reset then choose the DIGITAL TV ONLY option, analogue won't be tuned only digital. You may have tell the TV
what state you are in for the clock and program guide to be correct for your state.

Thanks, I'll try a factory reset and see what happens. It seems to be stuck in analogue. When I press the TV button on the side of the TV nothing happens at the moment.

TV internal digital tuners tend to be crap. Probably works better from a STB or DVR. Harmony remotes 650 or 700 cheap and will control 5 or 6 devices are brilliant if you can spend a bit of time on the internet programming.

Sorry I wasn't clear enough, the tv button to toggle is the button marked TV next  to the AV input button at the top of the
Panasonic Remote Control. This button should switch the tv tuner from Analogue to Digital and vice versa when pressed. When in the digital mode you should be able to access the Digital Auto Tuning by pressing the menu button on the remote and following the
on screen steps as per my earlier post.Panasonics have good tuners IMO.
