Ok got it all installed today and it sounds a lot sharper and its great. One question for all the experts out there. As you know I have the Anthem installed on the 3 channels in front. Before having this setup I would watch a BluRay ar roughly -20db and sounds loud enough. With this new setup to get the same effect I need to crank it up a bit more to around -17db on the Pioneer AV. Does this sound right? Why am I having to crank up the volume to hear a bigger sound despite the Power Amp? This was setup by the guys who installed it. So is this supposed to be correct?

Its to do with the sensitivity of the output/inputs but the bluray disc can be levelled different also plus DD, DTS dynamics... Don't go worrying about it and just set it to either what you like or the reference level if that's you cup of tea!

Ok thanks for the advice. Just that with the old setup without the power amp on the same disc the same levels were used and I have had to crank it up a bit more to get the levels prior.

One more thing on my setup of the Krix. ALl the 5:1 sound for the rear seems to be coming from the Centre rears not the rears. When I play a movie in 5:1 the rear surrounds are silent but the centre rears are the ones that come alive. However that is currently idea cause I sit right below those centre rears. So what happens if I want to sit in the back couch where the rears are?

Is there any settings I should be looking at to change this so the both rears put out the same surround sounds simultaneously so someone sitting behind me can also listen right above them?

Do they work on a 7.1 mix or all channel stereo? If so it sounds to me like you need to use a different decoding format that sends a virtual signal to the rears (channels 6 & 7) in a 5.1 mix. I'm not familiar with your avr but would assume it has DTS Neo X or similar. Consult your manual to see what each mode is meant to be used for and take it from there.

Why listen to what everybody else says? Trust your ears. There are tonnes of good quality speakers out there. In Oz we are lucky that we still have a great local speaker manufacturing industry that offers excellent bang for buck. Krix, Whatmough, Aaron, Adelaide Speakers, Subsonic, Legend, Sonique, the list goes on and on. Audition these within your budget till you find something YOU like listening to YOUR music tastes, not a reviewers opinion.

Good advice. I remember demo'ing half a dozen in my price range at Clef back in the day and ended up with a pair a few hundred under budget, just cos I preferred their sound.

Agree with the previous 3 posts.  Also, the question should be asked in its own thread instead of confusing this one...

Cheers,

Chris

But in WA there is no where to test them. so have to rely on reviews. went one shop but they only really had cm8 and cm9s the rest were rubbish can't find dali ikon 6s or 7 anywhere to test them like the B&W.
Also if the Australian speakers were that great they would be up there on the reviews with the rest of them. I have started my own post now but so far no comments hence I joined this one as it was kind of relevant

Chappers just demo what you can. There Iza huge amount if good quality speakers to demo out there. And yes even in WA !

Ps re Australian speakers. No most of them actually none of them I know are exported to us or uk that know off where you tend to get the glowing reviews overflowing in press and fan boy forums etc. as you'd expect these would cover speakers sold in their own country and as makes sense are great value to them being a local product in many cases.

Our own press have reviewed (ie one print magazine we have in this country) many local branded product over the years. They're just in print not online as you might find overseas. Plus our forums here aren't as extensive with as much fan boy activity  as might find overseas.

In any case I wouldn't get to caught up in reviews. There's been fair share of over enthusiastic press and online reviews have read over the years where they proclaim best thing since sliced great only for me to check out and start wondering what drugs they're on ?

We are lucky in this country with number of excellent local makers plus there's a good choice of imported product as well. A quite sure be able to find something be very happy with.

There are certain speakers worth importing but not Dalis and B&Ws that priced about $3000 in Australia.
