The TV tuner is exactly the kind of thing I want to use this for. Let me know how it goes.

A mate lent me his Pi last weekend and using the installer from http://www.raspbmc.com, I was up and playing flawless 1080p video from a 12GB mkv file from the MyBookLive using the 100MB network interface. I was using DTS audio passthrough to my amplifier which decoded 5.1 channels beautifully, all within 30 minutes. Absolutely brilliant little device. I tested this with a 1080p encoding of Avengers which is very graphically intensive , especially when it zooms on that blue energy cube, and it didn't miss a beat.

The only thing to remember that at 1080p the Raspberry Pi processor is pretty much running at %80 so you can do audio passthrough but not audio decoding. At 720p thats not a problem. But really who uses decoding these days with AMP's doing all that in hardware anyway.
