Welcome to Austar Anonymous

Anyone care to post what Life After Austar is like after you made the decision to go cold turkey ?

have you found other avenues to substitute what is considered to be a waste of money, or a necesary evil for some ?

too much time and money on your hands and dont really care? thats ok

this is a self help group for anyone contemplating going on a FTA patch as well as recovering Austarholics

actually anyone who has gone cold turkey shouldnt really be lurking the Austar forums looking for a fix either but anyway, tell us your story

LoL

How can you have a self help group? Surely it's not self help if its a group doing it?

Actually we were Austar customers since they first started in Alice Springs but having moved to Canberra late last year we decided to give pay TV the flick and now we just watch FTA TV. There are enough channels now that we can find something to view each night and find we are not missing pay TV at all. Even our kids are good with FTA especially Eleven which my daughter is glued to, she is enjoying all the golden oldies like The Brady Bunch etc.

On the odd occasion there has been nothing worth watching we simply stream youtube programs now that they have full programs loaded on to it, got to love Mrs Browns Boys. :)

Was with Galaxy before ArseTar, now there are so many FTA channels, especially news 24, there's no real point in having Austar .... No real need for a support group either LOL

Last year my wife was offered Austar HD for 6 months free.

Even though we have 2 Tivos, she wanted to give it a go and I wanted to see the NRL in HD.

Once it started to cost, I wanted to get rid of it, especially as Friday night NRL is not live in HD.

Wife finally called and cancelled, so we are just about to join this group.

I will need no help.  At least now when I watch SD Friday night NRL I will know I am not paying for PayTV.  That really started to bug me.

Life is so sweet since I ditched Auscrap!!
No more long boring, long winded, infuriating life, death, Super, Pay, Pet insurance advertisements I have to pay for and be content with.
No more holiday long weekend marathons of the most boring shows on the earth.
No more freezes/reboots from the Auscrap box whilst I found something interesting to watch.
No more can't get a picture when there was the slightest hint of a storm.
No more subscription increases.

Now.....? Free to air is not too bad plus a TV compatible with the internet? I have lots to watch....Why didn't I do it sooner?

Life after Auscrap? Sweet. :hyper:
