Hi All,

As the topic says, is it possible to get Melbourne Digital Radio in the Bendigo area?  There isn't even a timetable for Bendigo to have digital rolled out at this stage!

Cheers :)

Nor is there for any other regional area. Excluding trials in Canberra and Darwin. In fact theres no real guarantee DAB will even be used there, or if we'll use another type of digital radio in country areas (like DRM).

As for getting melbourne signals in Bendigo. You will struggle to get reliable reception past Melton or Romsey.

Extremely long shot: With a really good location (most important) and spending pretty big on aerials/masting/amplifiction it may be possible. On the plus side, if you get the DAB signals you will get melbourne digital TV aswell, as long as an appropriate aerial is chosen.

Reimers
I totally agree with Nbound
If you wish to price a trial use the antenna specified for light blue and the Kingray MHV44HLG, on a high mast.

There is no guarantee you will get continuous reception.

For the costs involved go to www.digitalradioplus.com.au and get the web address of the stations and listen on line.

Are you trying to get any particular channel?  Personally I  find I can stream almost any channel via the net and my DAB+ radio is only ever used for 774 due to some local interference on the AM.

Not any particular station, although SEN would be good.  Thought it was a long shot but didn't hurt to ask!  I'll stick with the web streaming, thanks for the replies everyone :)

DAB in Melbourne is not intended or licensed to cover Bendigo. AS others have suggested if you have reasonable internet speed (ADSL minimum) then there is a vast world of streaming radio available on the internet and a lot of Melbourne stations have apps for devices such as iPods etc.

Sorry, no chance of Melbourne DAB+ in Bendigo.

As others have suggested, internet streaming is your best bet.

G'day,

I've recently heard back from someone who went to test a Digital radio in the small town of Trentham, the results were, perfect reception of all digital stations, and that's clearly 100kms away from Melbourne

How?

Look how high it is. Now try a place like Maldon, see what you can get

Trentham, although it's just over 10kms from the Mt Dandenong TX, is basically line of sight due to its elevation and nothing significant blocking the signal path.
Melbourne digital TV works there too.

Exactly the same scenario with the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. Those with a view towards Sydney get perfect digital reception (both TV and radio) but others, even though they may have an elevation of over 1000 metres, cannot receive any signals from Sydney, due to terrain in the signal path. eg: they're in a gully.

Maldon...... don't like your chances....... (as you are suggesting) once again due to terrain and distance.

G'day mtv,

I was suggesting Maldon, because analogue radio is pretty good there from Melbourne, due to it's height. I haven't had any reports though, or know of anyone who has tried.....I'd be interested though
